Yuletide sign-ups are open!

\o/

I'm already done and signed up. My choices of fandoms I thought I could write were a lot easier to pick than which prompts I wanted to see, but I finally narrowed it down to four that made me happy.

I should probably hold off on my Dear Santa letter, but if I put it off I take the chance of completely forgetting to do it at all, SO.

Dear Santa:

Thank you so very much for signing up for Yuletide in the first place and signing up for my fandoms in particular! I understand that my prompts are a bit vague for the most part, but that's because I'm very open to whatever you prefer in regards to my basic wants just as long as it's easy and fun for you to write it. I want you to have a great time, so if your great time deviates some from my request and you still churn out something wonderful, I'm certainly not going to complain. ;)

Okay, so. A few details.

1. The Shawshank Redemption -- Andy and Red in Mexico post-movie. I like slash, but would prefer gen here. Just something nice and atmospheric that captures the tone of the movie.

Shawshank is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of my favorite fandoms to write fic in. What I'd really like is something that focuses on Andy and Red (or just Andy, if you'd prefer to write him waiting for Red) after the movie, living a free life in Mexico. I would love to see something that captures their adjustment to life outside Shawshank -- how it's not all wine and roses, how they're the only ones who understand each other, etc.

I have no problem with slash at all. If you'd like to write Andy/Red and believe you can do so in character, I'd love to read it. However, I would prefer this story be gen.

I would really just love to read ANY Shawshank fic, basically. :)

2. Lost In Austen -- I loved this version of Wickham. Any story you'd like to tell about him, I'm all ears.

I am very open with this story. As long as it's about Wickham, I don't mind where you take him. Do he and Caroline marry, and if so do he and his new wife bring her sapphic desires to the marriage bed along with a lady friend to have a bit of fun? (*big hopeful puppy eyes*) Do he and Lydia end up marrying anyway, and if so do they have a better marriage than they would have in the books? (I would kind of be all over this. I normally haaaaaate Lydia, but I found her adorable here and I think these versions of the characters could have an enjoyable marriage together.) Does he end up going through the doorway to modern London and making his way with his own special mark?

Ooo, ooo! Or what if Amanda got stuck in Elizabeth's time but Darcy marries Caroline, so Amanda marries Wickham, and the two actually end up falling for one another while Darcy pines from afar ...

... okay, I'll shut up. ;)

I just really liked Wickham, in all his delightful deviousness.

3. Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series -- Colin/Penelope. Wherever you want to go from there, knock yourself out.

Colin and Penelope are AWESOME. Penelope, especially. I would really enjoy seeing Colin with their baby. Just thinking about it makes my ovaries squeak happily. :D

I love AUs, too, so maybe if Penelope really wasn't Lady Whistledown and they fell in love anyway, or perhaps if Colin realizes a LOT earlier that Penelope is awesome? Whatever, go nuts. I just love those two crazy kids.

(Um, if you'd like any other ideas ... okay, remember Gregory's wife Lucy and her gay husband-for-five-minutes? And how before they got an annulment Lucy volunteered to get him a wife? I've had a bit of a jones since reading that book to see a story about her making it her mission to get him a nice wife who won't care about his desires, and maybe a boyfriend while she's at it, and the whole time Gregory just watches from the sidelines headsmacking.)

EDIT: Ooo, ooo! Speaking of AUs, if you wanted to write Colin/Penelope but as a modern-day AU or a crack AU, I would probably come to your house and have sex with you. I'm just saying.

4. The 4400 -- I would love to see fic where Marco tests the limit of his teleportation ability. Bonus points if he gets really geeky about knowing every detail about his strengths and weaknesses.

I LOVE MARCO.

... ahem. No, seriously, he was my favorite. And I was THRILLED that he turned out to have teleportation as an ability, because that's my favorite superhuman ability. Aaaaand that ended up to be the finale, so we didn't even get to see him play with it.

I would love to see him learning the ropes, discovering how far he can go, checking times and locations and making graphs and stuff. I just want to see him go full geek on his own abilities.

*

Really, I love the first three fandoms so much I'm really open to whatever fic you might want to write about them. I'm firmly pro-Marco for that last one, but for the rest, go nuts! Have fun! I want writing this story to be as much of a present for yourself as the story being written for you will be.

Good luck! :)

Thank you for noting that the signups are open! Because I've been so limited in my LJ-crawling lately, I basically only read my non-communities flist, so I always miss the announcements.

Thanks for making sure I don't miss it like I did 2 years ago!

You know, I really like reading my friends' santa notes and what they requested as much as the actual production of mass quantities of fic.
