Writer's Block: Voulez-vous parler ...

Well, I can't speak any right now, but I can follow the gist of a conversation if it's in Spanish (I had three years of it and most of the words stuck) or German (thanks, Christian/Olli and Deniz/Roman!).
I took Spanish in high school and had it my first semester of college, but I decided to try something different and took German the next semester instead. (This was all before I ever found out that my biological grandfather's ancestry is, as far as he can tell, 100% German all the way.) I was really, REALLY good at it. It was one of my favorite classes, too, mostly because my professor was fucking amazing. He was always willing to help you out, he was always in a good mood, he couldn't say enough good things about the country itself. I never missed a day of that class.
But, yeah, I'd love to go back and learn German all over again. I really enjoy listening to other people speak German. I'm totally blaming it on some ingrained genetic thing. :D

SO. I have recovered my car from the shop!
The damage? The snow tires went on my mom's credit card, but I paid for the new battery I needed. If the unemployment payment I get is even half of what I paid for the battery, I shouldn't have to worry too much about the other bills and whatnot. I went grocery shopping after work yesterday (easy enough -- the grocery store is right across the street) so I'm set for groceries for at least another two weeks.
Is it weird that I can't stop smiling that I don't have to worry about my car for the moment? Hee.
Aaaaaaaaaand now I have to go bone up on my Yuletide fandom.
