My refund is not in my account.

The IRS has never been late with my refund, and has always been perfectly correct with their estimate as to when I should be getting my refund, except for the times when they weren't and it came early. There's no reason it shouldn't be in my account right now. The IRS, for all that everybody gives it shit, has never given me any problems. NEVER. (I don't even count having to pay taxes back one year as a problem. Hey, shit happens.)

Except for the one differentiating factor this year -- I used TurboTax, and the company which is processing their refunds is telling me they did not receive the refund the IRS is telling ME they deposited two days ago, and, oh, I should try back next Friday.

Yeah, you know what? Fuck you guys. You just stirred my mother's temper, which I have but never use. If that deposit isn't in my account by Monday, I'm filing a complaint with the BBB so fast it'd make your fucking head spin. Fuck, if it isn't in my account by the end of TODAY, we're going to have words. Except not the four-letter ones, because even at my angriest, I'm still sharp enough to go back and delete them from angry emails to businesses.

I am having a bitch of a time focusing on anything else but this, not the least of which because I'm short on groceries and my paycheck for this week comes up five bucks short of paying my rent. GRRRRRRRR. HULK SMASH!

To cross your T's and dot your I's, you did double check to ensure the information for the checking account is correct on the forms you submitted, yes? If so, maybe write a post on the Consumerist?

Yup, definitely. I'm paranoid about that anyway, so I usually double- and triple-check my banking information. (Not to mention I can rattle off my bank account number by reflex now thanks to checking my balance on my bank hotline.)

I sent them an email complaint this morning, so I'm going to see how they respond. If I don't have it by Monday, I get to complain to the IRS, too, while I'm at it.

I used TurboTax for years however, the one time I had the biggest problem with them was in the timing of getting the refund. And not my regular refund, oh no - the $600 one. Even though I'd picked direct deposit for that, it was 'technically' a DD from TurboTax; the IRS sent a check to them and then they dropped it into my account.

*grimace* That may be what's happened here, which sucks.

This happens whenever you choose to use part of the refund to pay for the filing. If you use a credit card to pay for the filing, the DD goes to you and not them, I think. I remember I got some major credit separately because of this issue, as well.

Ahhhh. Thank you for pointing that out. Because I was going to say I've done TT for years and there's never been a third party. IRS both fed and state would go directly into my bank account. But I always did either the free TT or paid by credit card when submitting.

Well crap. I used Turbo Tax this year instead of H&R Block whom I've never had a problem with until this year when they kept trying to charge me for Basic filing when I wanted Free and wouldn't let me change it.

I guess we'll see what happens. I was already leery because of those Metabank emails I was getting.

I've used TurboTax for 3 years now (ever since H&R online screwed up, then found my post about it on LiveJournal and hit my LJ every day for 2 weeks). I've never had a problem with TurboTax. That said, this time they said the federal refund would be in on the 5th and state on the 12th. My state is already here. I think they've screwed up whatever-it-is that figures the dates for deposit.

You might want to call your bank first, just to make sure they don't see the deposit en route.
