My goal is that this year, by the time the awards come around, I will have seen each nominee in the directing, best film, and acting awards and can devote some posts to giving you guys some idea of each nominee and what they did to deserve (or not deserve) to be there.

Right now, the expected winners are Avatar, James Cameron, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, Christophe Waltz and Mo'Nique. I'm pretty sure that Jeff Bridges, Christophe Waltz, and Mo'Nique are locks: Jeff Bridges is getting his career Oscar, Christophe Waltz is the only nominee in the supporting actor category whom everyone was sure of, and Mo'Nique's performance is generally getting the best reaction of all five supporting actress nominees. Sandra Bullock's major competition is Gabourey Sidibe -- she keeps giving these vivacious, adorable interviews that are hard not to view as lovable. Kathryn Bigelow's been getting the ex-wife vs. ex-husband angle for a reason. She's his biggest competition, and The Hurt Locker has been getting growing buzz lately, enough to make it Avatar's biggest competition.

I'm going to pull this off for one goddamn year. HMPH.
