I went out to dinner with my family last night. How long it took for them to say something mildly or blatantly racist: Just before dessert, when my great-aunt busted out "colored people."

It's really depressing that I have a "how long it takes my family to say something mildly or blatantly racist" mental countdown running in my head during every family gathering, honestly.

That said, they also spent the majority of the meal talking about rectums, men shooting themselves in the penis, the possibility of my grandfather's meds being Viagra, some stranger at my mom's nail appointment talking loudly about her hysterectomy, every guy at the table having their penis size joked about by everybody else, and my grandfather implying that my great-uncle was hitting on him the whole meal. So for anybody who wonders how I turned out this way ... yeah, huge shock.

But then I came home and there was new Who to be had!

I haven't watched an episode since Journey's End, and my viewings were spotty anyway during the Martha episodes, but after that, I don't plan on missing any episodes this season. I already knew Matt Smith was adorable and weird and floppy just the way I like them, but he's done a wonderful job.

And Amy! I think I maybe adore Amy just a bit, and what I really need to do today is icon that shot of Amelia sitting on her suitcase all bundled up and depressed, because it's lovely and sad and wonderful and awful all at the same time. And the casting director deserves a medal because Amelia so looked like a wee!Amy.

But, yes. This is good. This, I can keep watching.

And the preview for the rest of the season! I squealed at River, and I squealed at Bill Nighy, and I squealed at the angels, because as creepy as the angels were they were a great sort of creepy.

In other news, I'm supposed to go to a family dinner tonight, too, but I'd rather stay home and have a sandwich. I'm just in that sort of a mood.

According to the Confidential wee!Amy is actually big!Amy's cousin. Who she'd never met until the first read through meeting!

Hello back! :) I'm really good thanks. And I'm not just saying that because I have a long weekend off work, a new season of Doctor Who, and a large Cadburys Easter Egg in the fridge. Though it doesn't hurt. How are you??

They all sound like good things to have! (Well, given how long it take me to respond to comment, to have had.)

I'm OK, a little stressed due to driving lessons but otherwise OK.

Cool! I thought there was an uncanny resemblance you seldom get when casting young/older roles. I liked little Amelia, too--she had spunk.

The casting director had quite an easy time of it really, because Amy and Amelia are actually cousins.

Yeah, during the election I played a game with my grandparents called "Racial Epithet Bingo".
They got three before I'd mentally say "bingo!" and get up and leave.
