I'm watching AI, and they just had a Glee commercial featuring this non-spoilery exchange (unless Brittany being dim isn't something you've already figured out):

Sue: Anything else?
Brittany: Sometimes I forget my middle name.

Oh, darling. I've missed you so. :D

When the world ends, the only things left will be cockroaches, Twinkies, WALL-E, and Tim fucking Urban. And he'll still have that shit-eating grin on his face.

Seriously, though, at this point I almost want him to win. 'Cause you know what, Crystal will have NO problem getting a record deal after this. Neither will a few of the others - I don't doubt that Casey will drop something very Kenny Wayne Shepherd/Jonny Lang, and I could see Lee and Siobhan going places, too. Tim's not going anywhere. In a just world, he'd end up starring in a Disney made-for-TV movie and go to college on the residuals, after which we'd never hear from him again.

But it's not a just world, and I sort of just want the audience to finally go, "Fuck it!" and keep voting for Tim until he wins. Let's send Simon out in style by torpedoing the FUCK out of this season.

(... yeah, no, Crystal better fucking win.)

(Also, YAY for Big Mike!)

I really want my new MP3 player to show up already, except at the earliest it probably won't show until next Tuesday. The thing is, my 8Gb player is okay -- it's certainly bigger than the other one, and it doesn't need as much of a charge as my Sansa clip did -- but my problem with it right now is that it doesn't have a separate folder for audiobooks. So what ends up happening is that I have to keep skipping past Track 14 of one book and Track 3 of another.

Meh, I'll have my shiny new cheap-ass toy in a week or so and then I won't have to worry about it anymore. And hey, the new one plays video! I can listen-to-and-sort-of-watch Top Gear and Leverage and whatnot at work. :D

Speaking of, anybody got any suggestions for some decent ass-kicking chick music? I'm going to try and stuff as much of it as possible on the new MP3 player to try and inspire me.

Neko Case is pretty damn awesome. Which albums of hers do you want? I've got them all.

I love the now-defunct God among men. Liz Fields is badassery personified in a shorty redheaded package :)

Tim's vocal on "All My Lovin'" was his best so far--admittedly, that's not saying a lot--and at least, unlike Andrew Garcia, he clearly knows he's on borrowed time and understands how lucky he is. Andrew thought his performance of "Can't Buy Me Love" was awesome, which just makes me boggle.

On the chick music front, do you know Voice of the Beehive? I adore their first album, "Let It Bee." Lala has a bunch of their songs you can listen to once for free: http://www.lala.com/#artist/Voice_Of_The_Beehive/more/songs. Try "Don't Call Me Baby," "I Walk the Earth," and "Beat of Love." For laughs, check out "There's a Barbarian in the Back of My Car."

If you like folk/country/bluegrass (Americana) with awesome harmonies, try Tres Chicas: http://www.lala.com/#artist/Tres_Chicas/more/songs. Check out "When Was the Last," "Foot of the Bed," "Desire" and a fun cover of Loretta Lynn's "Deep as Your Pocket."

Yeah, that's the one thing I'll give Tim credit for (aside from being awfully pretty). He's very realistic about where he stands and he has no delusions on that count, so he really is just happy to be there. And if he gets a compliment, he's thrilled, but if he gets criticized, he just takes it to heart and keeps on chugging along.

Sorry to threadjack, but OMG, someone else has heard of Voice of the Beehive???

"Scary Kisses" was my JAM back in high school :)

THIRDED! OMG I love that album, hearing it for the first time was the only good thing that came of a particular boyfriend.

"Sex and Misery" was their long-awaited reunion album. Reviews were mixed so I never got around to picking it up, but that's a good track--more dance-y than their earlier stuff, which has more of a B-52s/Go-Gos vibe.

"I Walk the Earth" makes me ridiculously happy. It's one of my go-to songs when I've had a crappy day.

I've had the same album in my car's CD player for months because listening to it makes me feel like kicking a ton of asses: Courtney Love's 'America's Sweetheart'. 'Nobody's Daughter' is newer, but not as good.

Other bands of note, as 'angry vag music' is my favorite genre:
L7, Babes in Toyland, Joan Jett, Garbage, seconding Neko Case (especially 'This Tornado Loves You'), Amy Winehouse, Stevie Nicks, and Johnny Hollow.

On the music front, I listen to a lot of angry chick music, too, but for now the one that's coming to mind is Superchic[k], especially for "Bowling Ball." (Currently playing on my MP3 player? Veruca Salt, another possibility.)

Also Flyleaf (especially their second album, Memento Mori) and The Donnas.

Exactly how kick-ass chick do you want to go?

I suggest Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, The Birthday Massacre, and Paramore.
