So here's what my weekend looks like in a nutshell.

Rinse, lather, repeat until I have to go back to work on Monday.

It's a system that worked for me the one time I managed to write 10k in a day. I've only watched a couple of episodes of TVD in their entirety and bits and bobs here and there, and I've been meaning to catch up with the series for a while now. (I don't have much of a desire to join the fandom anytime soon, though. You guys are all great, thank God, but for some reason I just seem to keep stumbling onto the worst sorts of snide back-patting "MY show is so much better than YOUR show" Vampire Diaries fans every time I stumble outside of ye olde friends list. At least you guys are awesome. *hugs*)

I was really worried about not getting any of my novel work done this weekend, but in all honesty I haven't gotten much novel work done in a while because I've been so blocked. This could be just the thing to grease the chute and get my brain back in gear again.

I'm not venturing into TVD fandom either. I just started watching a week ago and am all caught up because I unexpectedly ended up really liking the show. Elena? IS FUCKING AWESOME. The Salvatore Brothers? Are also awesome. And have a much healthier relationship than the Winchesters, despite one being a sociopath. Now I want a Sam and Damon fic.

I know, right? I lagged after watching the first two episodes because they really didn't hook me, but I've been catching bits and pieces because it's on before SPN and I've been liking what I'm seeing. I've just been turned off so much by so many TVD fans I've been putting it off.

Try not to let the other fans do that. I didn't even bother mentioning that I was watching the show until I was 7 or 12 eps in. Luckily I only have 3 fans on my flist, so that helps.

I was warned that the show gets better and better as it goes on and it really does. Wait until you get to the brother bonding ep, which I think is 9? I was saying to someone, the 150 years these two have been together has washed away all the angst they could've had, especially in regards to Katherine, and all that's left is this calm acceptance of one another. (Btw, they both knew that Katherine was with both of them and they were ok with it.) Seriously, the brothers, aside from the girls, are the best part of the show. (See: "If I see something new, I'll throw a dollar at it" and "Where's our girlfriend?" and "I like this menage a threesome we've got going on. It's got a bit of kink to it." or something like that, I was too busy squeeing to remember it verbatim.)

The girls in the show and their friendships with each other makes me so happy. They talk about stuff other than boys, are concerned for each other and back each other up, actually communicate about important things and aren't all back-stabby, they are honest and talk things out. And the majority of the characters aren't dumb and they don't make stupid decisions that lead to unnecessary major angst. Elena at one points says, "I defended myself today, it felt good." \O/ This is my new happy show and I want everyone to be happy with me. So, happy watching!

Oh I love Vampire Diaries, but I have no interest in the fandom at all. Maybe it's because I got out all my OH MY GOD FANDOM for the books in middle school or something. It's kinda like NCIS. I can look at the show from a fandom-y perspective but I really have no interest at all in outside from enjoying it.
