Random things
Apr. 26th, 2010 09:53 pm-- After listening to the new Orianthi song on the radio from work, I have a better understanding of what her body of work will be meant for, which is to give pretty teenage girls in comedies about the ups and downs of high school something to dance to and possibly kiss the popular guy or the nice cute boy next door to in the trailer.
-- They're opening up a Gertrude Hawk outlet store on the road I take to get to work. They're taunting me, you guys. Granted, it's not the seconds store so all the candy would be regular price, but still. Chocolate store, on my way to work so that I have to pass it every morning. NOT COOL, FATES.
-- Speaking of, when I was throwing around ideas for how to make extra cash the other day, I contemplated offering to go to the Gertrude Hawk seconds store, buy a bunch of random surprise chocolates and candy and stuff, and mail them to people who don't live near here. Mostly because I like going in the Gertrude Hawk store. Mmm, store that smells like chocolate. BECAUSE IT'S FULL OF CHOCOLATE. :D
-- Hey, who wants to hear me talk about working on my Big Bang?
It basically boils down to a few things:
1. I'm mildly freaking out at the moment, but I do mean "mildly." I'm actually fairly calm considering I only have a few hours tonight and then the next five days to finish this thing.
2. I cracked 10k during my lunch break at work today. Uh, woohoo?
3. I identified my main three problems with the plot today. Two of them just need fleshing out to fix and I should be able to do that all on my own. The third ... er, I may need to talk it out with someone some time this week, because I have no freaking CLUE right now how to get from point A to point ... er, Explodey-Stuff-And-Muppet-Arms, I suppose.
4. Did I mention that one of the ways I managed to get onto the roll I'm on now was by switching to a second-person POV? Well, hell, as long as it works, right?
5. No, seriously, this first draft is going to be rough enough to sand concrete by hand.
6. If I manage to get 20k words done this month simply from one story, I'll have written more words in one ten-day stretch than I have in the previous, oh, three and a half months.
7. I keep picturing the master list with like 45% Jared/Jensen fics, 45% Sam/Dean and Dean/Castiel fics, a handful of gen fic, and then my poor lonely Ellen/Mary second-person POV AU. Well, I said I wanted a challenge. *headsmack*
-- In a semi-related vein, because I've been rewatching episodes while writing (and not getting distracted, which is a nice change), you know you've seen too many Air Crash Investigation episodes when you recognize that the guy who played a terrorist in one episode as the guy playing a pilot in another episode.

Date: 2010-04-27 02:29 am (UTC)The seconds store is this outlet store the factory runs where they sell the rejects -- the ones that taste exactly the same, they're just not as pretty as the boxed chocolates -- a bit cheaper. As long as you're not picky about how pretty they might be, it's a goldmine. I've gone in with twenty bucks and come out with six different kinds of chocolate. OM NOM NOM.

Date: 2010-04-27 02:17 am (UTC)You're right on the nose with Orianthi's music, but oh it's such a better alternative to Miley Cyrus. (Remember, I have a girl rapidly approaching her pre-teen years, I speak from experience.)
And if you can afford the shipping to Oklahoma, YES PLEASE.
