Crystal does this thing sometimes when she's singing where she puts her hand on her tummy, right over the rounded remainder of baby belly left behind, and Lee's completely fixated on it. So after the first time they fall into bed together, when they're still stretched out under the tangled sheets in the afterglow, Lee flattens a palm against her soft belly and presses a kiss next to her belly button and says in a sleepy tone of voice, "I shall call her Squishy and she shall be mine and she shall be my Squishy."
Crystal puts her hand over her face and blurts out, "Oh, my God, why did I have sex with you?", but her words burble out on a short fountain of laughter and her smile peeks out from between her splayed fingers.
Lee lifts his head and fixes her with heavy-lidded eyes. "Because everybody else is having sex with Casey," he says solemnly.
She throws a pillow at his head.
