Heater core. Four to five hundred dollars.

FUUUUUUCK.

So what can I blow, now that I've already had the transmission go, that'll cost me two thousand dollars to fix? Because honestly, if we're only THIS close to me having to pay what I paid for the car in the first place all over again, we might as well go for broke, and literally at that. Am I right, or am I right?

(The mechanic offered me some gas and a match. Somehow, I managed to decline.)

So, uh, yeah. If you can afford to spare a few bucks (and thank you SO much to those of you who already have, seriously):

You should shop around. That seems very high.

Depending on the make and model of your car; a heater core can be as little as $75 retail. He probably pays 60% of that.

That's the problem. He *is* the cheapest guy I know. And he's friends with my dad, so he's not about to dick me over. From the sound of things, he pretty much has to take the car apart to get to the stupid thing and it's going to take him a few days to do. The part may be cheap, but the labor'll be ridiculous.

That stinks, really, and boy, do I feel you on the trap of car repairs vs. the whole gas and a match thing. {hugs}

Just remind yourself that most people get caught.

I wanted to say HEY, thanks for the chocolate!

Sorry about the car. I have SO been there. I can't donate (just replaced the air conditioning for $2750) but I do have something I can send you which is almost money. I'll drop it in the mail this weekend.

Ooo, stuff in the mail! I like stuff that comes in the mail! I'm so easy to please. :D

They are so good! I'm liking the orange and dark chocolate ones as well, a lot more than I expected.

Had to do some fiddling with the thing I'm sending, but it's together and should be off in the mail today.
