*Chokes on "great leadership" bit*

There are no words in English language to adequately express what I feel about this, but "#$^@$@#$#@$@#%!!!!" comes close.

"It's as sick as people who stole things out of the place," said Firefighter Tommy Fee of Queens Rescue Squad 270. "The image of firefighters at ground zero should not be used for this stuff, for politics."

Just wait until the RN Convention starts up, New Yorkers!

"I can understand why some Democrats might not want the American people to remember the great leadership and strength the president and first lady Laura Bush brought to our country in the aftermath of that," she said.

Yeah... that's it. Doesn't have anything to do with it being completely fucking tasteless.

And John Glenn is my hero.

I remember the president running to an unnamed location in the aftermath of the WTC and Pentagon bombings. Because he can lead so much better in a secret location where no one can see or hear him, I guess.

what a maroon

Bush really steal the cake with this one... but then he has a habit of acting first and thinking later

Bush is incapable of thought. He acts first and thinks...well, never.

I can't help but enjoy watching him dig his own grave deeper and deeper. I mean, I could offer a shovel, but man, he's just about to hit the jackpot all by his lonesome. I'm impressed.

I'm amazed that Hughes managed to make it almost to the end of the article without directly implying that Democrats are attacking the victimized president.

Bush has reached rock bottom, and is amazingly showing signs of starting to dig again.

Don't you love how he doesn't even think he's doing anything wrong?

I keep thinking that Franklin Roosevelt would never have tossed shots of Pearl Harbor into his campaign ads, but he always had that "I got the entire country jobs when there were none" thing to fall back on. Of course Bush has to put 9/11 in his ads -- he's got nothing good to show for himself.

The thing is, surely the immediate connection one makes to pictures of carnage in election material is "VOTE FOR ME! I'll make lots of people die!"

And I guess we're supposed to think he was a great leader during that time, when he basically vanished for half the day, then popped before the cameras and said, "Let's get those bad, bad men!" Well, geez, as long as you don't come out before the cameras wearing a jaunty party hat and saying, "Whee, let's do that again!", it's really kind of difficult to screw up leadership during something like that. (Although, you've got to admit, he tried.)

It's hilarious that he thinks it makes him look like a great leader because it hasn't happened since. No, all the terrorists had to do was sit home and do nothing and it made him look lik a paranoid, war-mongering asshat.

Thinking about this for too long turns me into one of those conspiracy nuts who think the whole thing was rigged to provide an excuse for a war/some publicity. Which is scary.

Damn those enticing conspiracy nuts (like Brazil nuts in a way, only less crunchy and harder to swallow).
