Crystal told Ryan on his radio show that her boyfriend broke up with her the morning of the final performances.

A few things:

1. I take back the Weasley nickname. The vast majority of the Weasleys weren't such massive dicks. (Seriously, the day before she hits the AI finals? What, was her birthday unavailable? Christmas too far away? No puppies for him to kick on the way out? There's no way to make that a nice breakup.)

2. Hell, no wonder she cried during that final performance.

3. Dear OTP, stop giving me hope, damn you.

Mostly I'm mad at him because I started a fic this morning and now I have to decide whether to chuck it all and start from scratch or just add an author's note stating I started writing it before her boyfriend pulled a highly douchetastic move. (I can't even ... was he TRYING to get her to fuck up and lose?)

I saw that and totally thought of you. As in, my exposure to AI this season has pretty much been Lee+Crystal OTP and rooting for them to get together based on your entries.

(ETA: Rooting, not routing. But I seriously did see the break-up news and thought gee, now she can get together with Lee.)

Try to remember that you don't know why he broke up with her. There are some things that end a relationsip right then and there. Sometimes, there's no waiting for a "good" moment.

Like, you know, cheating. With Lee perhaps.

It's easy to paint him as the dick because you're only getting her side of it and because he ended things.

Crystal went on to say that it was because he wasn't prepared for the life style change, which is kind of what I expected it was. It's not like we're all going to stand on his front lawn or anything, so he'll never really see what the few here said about him. Anyway, it was really bad timing and chances are it wasn't actually one of the few things that end something on the spot.
