So, that went well.
Jun. 5th, 2010 10:55 amThe phone interview went really well, as far as I could tell. She did remember my brother and from the sounds of things not in a bad way. I told her he said he really liked working there. She asked if I would be available to work holidays and whatnot and I pretty much said, "You want me and I'm not working my full-time job, I'm there."
She asked how much I expected an hour. I stated quite plainly that right now I'm breaking even with my bills, so just getting paid at all for a part-time job would be a bonus. The job itself pays $8.00 an hour, though, so that's just fine. I'm currently making $11.00 an hour now that I'm past my ninety days at my full-time job (Fifty cent bonus, woohoo! My pay when I left the factory job after four damn years was only fifty cents higher, so making that much more an hour after ninety days officially with the company is nice), so hopefully I'll get this job and be able to start paying back everybody I owe.
The only uncomfortable bit (because I'd already mentioned that I need the job partly to pay off what's left of the car expenses and buy a new one that works) was when she asked me if I have reliable transportation. I did tell her, though, that the car just got out of the shop an hour ago, and while the steering seemed a bit clunky if I do have to take it back into the shop again I should have it back by the time I started there if I get the job.
So, yeah, now I'm going to go make a quick run and test the car to see if the steering really is as clunky as I imagined and needs to go back or whether I've turned into an automotive paranoiac.
