I fell asleep during the judging, but ...
Jul. 8th, 2010 07:04 am... Jaclyn won? Seriously? "I took pictures of all of the men who were staring at me." Yes, because the television cameras and the brand-new Audis had nothing to do with those stares, I imagine. "I decided to blur out their faces with paint to make it appear as though they could be any guy or whatever." Yeah, and I'm sure legal issues resulting from not getting releases from the men in question had nothing to do with that.
Ugh, Jaclyn frustrates the HELL out of me. I would love it if her art was actually about the effect of the male gaze on women in everyday situations. It's not. It's about Jaclyn and Jaclyn's boobs and how she knows you're staring at them, which is worlds away from "the male gaze." If Ryan is creating painterbation by continually putting himself in his art, Jaclyn is practically rolling herself in cherry-flavored lube and throwing herself to the art critics. That woman pains me.
That said, Erik needs to shut the hell up and stop critiquing everybody else. Don't give me this "I'm a self-trained artist, I didn't go to school" bullshit and then go on this rant about how Miles is like this artist stereotype you saw in a movie once and how Jaclyn's stealing all of your ideas. (Granted, she DID steal his idea last week, but he didn't do a great job of making me feel sympathy for him.)
Mark's painting was crap. Unsurprising, since I'm not a big fan of his photography and that's his wheelhouse.
I'm also unsurprised that Jamie Lynn went home. I'm not all that enthused by her illustrations anyway, but that one was a bit lazy, as far as I could tell.
I still sort of love Miles unapologetically. I know everybody else keeps knocking him for falling asleep during the challenge prep, but hey, the guy's not getting any sleep, and if he can fall asleep during the challenge preps, more power to him, because they must be complete chaos. And he does seem to get ideas when he sleeps, so you certainly can't say that he's not coming up with something when he's supposed to be.
Peregrine and Abdi are delightfully down-to-earth weirdos (if that's even possible) and I dig that about them. :)

Angelo, still a dick.
Alex, still competing in the Who's The Biggest Dick On TC This Season to the point where I actually prefer to watch Angelo be a dick. Which is saying something.
Kenny, pretty much a dead giveaway who'd go home at the end. C'mon, like they were going to keep Lynne and Arnold over him.
Spike, Bryan, and Mike Isabella, disappointing me as a group that apparently chefs that I actually liked from other seasons had better things to do.
Padma, who somehow managed to convince me that it's entirely possible she'd try baby food before giving it to her daughter. Heh.
Chef Tom, who likes nothing. NOTHING. (*snerk*)

I didn't watch SYTYCD last night so I could watch the other two, since I got home halfway through the episode. Which performances should I YouTube before tonight's results show? (And yes, I know about Alex. Aw.)
