I think I've got a pretty easy explanation for the crossposting-to-Twitter thing, you guys.

It's something I realized this morning while reading ye olde friends list that goes a little something like this:

You realize how many of you people are already reposting FROM Twitter?

That's not to say crossposting TO Twitter isn't completely different and profoundly stupid, not the least of which because Twitter does you the favor of counting your characters so you don't try to repost something too long like a big goober, and because no matter how simply it may be not to click on the ticky box, it would also be even easier to fix it so that no one on your LJ who doesn't care to avoid reposting to Facebook and actually quite likes the idea doesn't do something dumb like post a link to your non-con Dean/Castiel bestiality mpreg.

On the face of it, it seems such a smart idea. So many people have already linked Twitter to their account, right? They'd love to crosspost! Except, you know, it's clearly been implemented by someone with no concept of the Internet whatsoever, or at least someone with no deeper thoughts than, "Livejournal bad, Twitter pretty!" Because while lots of people repost Twitter recaps, that doesn't really mean they want the streams to cross.

That said, I still don't get the Facebook thing. Facebook and Livejournal have two entirely different filthy mentalities, people. Facebook is for flashing your boobs under your own name, Livejournal is for fannish masturbation while wearing a mask. Get it right, Powers-That-Be-novs.

Here's my flawed rationale:

One reason why I keep a diary of my Tweets in my LJ so that I can look back and approximate what I did that day based on what I was saying about it because I don't want to get into the habit of posting to LJ from work (if it's non newyorkers related; at least I can somewhat claim that working with that community is somewhat related to my job).

In fact, when I start going through and taking a deeper look at my taxicab receipts, if I can prove through my LJ that I did work-related stuff by taking a cab in the middle of the day, then I can add it to the list of deductions I'll claim on my Schedule C.

(Of course, it's time-shifted by a day, but I already know that and compensate for it when I do my research.)

The other reason why is so that I can keep an approximate diary of what I did, when I did it, and why I thought it was important to talk about. Because in the end, it's my journal.
