apocalypsosGov. David Paterson appears on SNL's Weekend Update to call Fred Armisen and the show itself on all of the ableist blind jokes they make about him.
On one hand, he's one hell of a sport for doing it, it was funny, it was true, and it shows that SNL recognizes the complaints being made.
On the other hand, it's not like he himself wrote all of jokes, the show did, and I'll believe they're reeling back on the ableist humor when I see it. (Which I wont, because as Paterson jokes in the clip, "There are a lot of characters, it's funny for 10 minutes and then you just want it to be over.") And seriously, if they think that's going to bring back viewers, they might want to try apologizing for the racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and misogynistic things going on both on and off the air as well. And then they might try fixing the damn problems. Oh, and then they might try BEING FUCKING FUNNY AGAIN.
