So yesterday I got a tarantula ...

apocalypsos... and today I got a new chinchilla. I now have twice as many pets as I started out with this weekend. (Even more so if you count the crickets.)
So I went down to meet up withsinnerforhire (who has an awesome "elusive as Robert Denby" bumper sticker I didn't notice until I was leaving) this afternoon, and picked up the new girl, who then proceeded to spend at least half of the trip back either in one arm asleep on my shoulder, or making little grunting noises in the box as though she wanted to come back out again and fall asleep on my shoulder.
Aaaaaaand then we got back to the apartment, and I put her in the cage with Dexter for a test run to see if they'd get along:
Dex: *stares at her*
New Chinchilla: *stares back*
Dex and New Chinchilla: "put their noses together like they're kissing*
New Chinchilla: "Oh, you have orange things!" *bounds over to the food bowl for orange things*
Dex: *dazed* "Uh ... hey, wait, come back! You can't just kiss me and LEAVE!" *proceeds to follow her around the cage for the next ten minutes*
Me: "Huh. I think I may have just seen the plot of every Michael Cera movie in ten seconds as performed by chinchillas."
Otis: *peeks in the cage* "OMIGOD YOU GOT ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE GODDAMN THINGS?!"
Me: "Yup! Want to meet her?" *takes chinchilla out and holds her up for Otis to sniff*
Otis: *sniffs* "Oh. Bored now." *wanders off*
Toby: *clearly doesn't give a shit*
Crickets: *NEW CRICKET FOOD OM NOM NOM*
She is currently in between names at the moment, as she was Fluffy, but Dexter believes Fluffy is one of his alternate names (along with "Hey, you!" and "Chunky monkey" and "Pudgy boy"), so we'll see if a name turns up anytime soon.
