So I just bit the bullet and defaulted on my Yuletide.

I'm still going to try to finish, don't get me wrong, but I have overtime tomorrow and Sunday and if they're offering it on Monday I'm taking that, too. In which case, it's still entirely possible I can get something done by Monday night, but I don't want to take the chance that the person whose story I'm supposed to be writing gets a half-assed Yuletide present or none at all just because I loathe having to default on writing challenges.

It sucks because I really rather desperately wanted to be the prompt I matched on, and then I really rather desperately wanted to do the alternate prompt I hurriedly scarfed down the source for and generated a massive plotbunny for as a result, but I'm smart enough to recognize at this point that it'll be a miracle if I get either done.

Is it too much to ask for to have a few hours to myself to write again? I'm starting to forget what it's like to sit down and focus on writing for longer than the length of time it takes to compose a post. I'm not even sure I can count NaNo, considering the whole thing this year was sort of a haze of trying to squeeze in as many words as possible featuring knitting, hot bald chicks, and zombies into a fifteen-minute break at work.

Speaking of, whose genius idea was it for me to gather up all of the free writing time I'm going to have once overtime ends and shove it in the direction of the nearest college?

Oh, right. *smacks self*
