apocalypsos... after today's "Lizzie Bennet Diaries" episode, I couldn't help but comment on the Tumblr tag, "Wow, George must *really* love Lydia, huh?"
Also, the more people I see on the tag who are mad at Lydia over the sex tape, the more of my anger I transfer from George to them. There are people who seriously think that Lydia came up with the sex tape idea, and Lydia who recorded it on purpose, and Lydia who's posting it. I could see if we hadn't had a few weeks worth of Lydia videos to work from and could see her behavior and attitudes changing while with George. The Lydia who was angry with Lizzie and ran off to Vegas -- yeah, okay, that Lydia I might buy an angry sex tape from. But that's a "maybe" and that's for Old Lydia, not New In-Love-With-Wickham Lydia.
Urgh. Sometimes fandom really fucking makes me want to throw my computer across the room.
(I could see Lydia agreeing to do the video if George persuaded her, but that's a worst-case scenario and that's with heavy coercion, which is most certainly NOT consent. There's talk going around that maybe it's a fake-out and there isn't a tape, but given the comments from George about helping Lydia with something in Vegas and that one video which ended with the camera cutting to their entwined legs, I think they could have very easily accidentally recorded themselves, recorded themselves but for their own enjoyment, or Lydia didn't know they were being recorded, which is my personal opinion. There's just something about the screencap on that shitty Geocities-level website that seems a lot like Lydia doesn't even know the camera's there. But that's just me.)
