So I called my mother today to see who would be picking me up from the bus station on Friday and asked whether or not we'd be having a party on Friday night.

Her response. "Probably not on Friday, since your brother's going with his friends to a strip club."

Only in my family would the eighteen-year-old tell his mother he was going to the strip club, and she'd be all casual about it. It does set up the chance for me to give Bryan some quality advice I once got when receiving a monetary present, as I can hand him his birthday present on Friday and say, "Now, don't spend all of this on beer and sluts. Make sure you waste at least some of it."

...to say that it would not be unusual in my family, extended that is (and now I want to burst into a round of the "Beverly Hillbillies" theme song, but that's not the point), for an 18 year old to tell his mother he was going to the strip club and for her to be casual about it. You are not alone. I'm in western Pennsylvania and weird families are everywhere here. No, really, I think they grow under rocks until we flip them out into the sunlight.
