Oh, God. "Opposites Attract" just came on my early-90s radio station. *headwall*

The danger in listening to this station is that I can vividly remember when this music was popular, and now all I can think is, "WHY?!"

Dude, not just for the song... but also for the godawful video! Dancing with an animated cat... what the hell was she (and/or the cat's choreoanimator) smoking?!?

Roger Rabbit made a whole live action/animated combo thing popular.

I enjoyed that video. Even though the song bugs me now because of its profound simplicity and dumbassity. They needed to break up.

Yes... but people hadn't quite harnessed the idea of "this should be used for the forces of good... not evil" concept yet, as evidenced by that video, and the Kim Basinger/Russel Crowe vehicle "Cool World"...

Russell Crowe was in that?

Brad Pitt's pretty makes it watchable. As does Gabriel Byrne's pretty [even though he's a complete moron in that movie]

That explains much about why that movie gives me The Twitch.

Because watching Paula Abdul dance with an animated cat form of Arsenio Hall is hot.

Oh wait, no it isn't. Nevermind. I don't have an answer for you. Unless it was all the coke people did in the 80's ...

Why was it popular? Because everything looks stupid 10 years in the future, then feels nice and nostalgic 30 years later.

...Except the 80's. People will forever hate the 80's. What WERE we thinking then?

It's all about the cartoon porn, really.

Your station seems to be taking its cue from VH1's "Totally Bad Videos".... Which was fun to watch and go, "My God! A Licky boom boom down? What was I thinking?"

What station plays early 90's? It might be fun for, oh, the length of a commute.
