Jesus, that US draft proposal link just got posted again on [livejournal.com profile] antiwar. Just when I thought there wasn't anything I could be more tired of than Troy-related quotes on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes ... and at least every single Troy-related quote has made me laugh. Posting that link over and over again just makes me want to hit things. And amazingly enough, that kind of defeats the purpose of being a pacifist.

In any event, a note to myself ... finish your goddamn WIPs, you great magnificent dork. As it is, I still have to finish "'Cause Islands Are A Girl's Best Friend," which you can all feel free to fling things at my head for until I finish it. I'm definitely tossing that Methos/Tyler Durden fic back into the pot for the next round at [livejournal.com profile] ithurtsmybrain, because I got my [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon assignment today and a plotbunny emerged fully-formed from my cracked-open skull. (And promptly kicked my ass. My plotbunnies are mean little bastards.) I think I'm going to have a X-Men movie marathon tonight to get the idea out of my head in detail early. I need to get this crap done and out of the way because I want to focus totally on working on the original fic stuff. Also, volunteered to rec for the X-Men movieverse for July on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, so if anything will eat away at my fanfic-writing time for a bit, that'll do it.

In other news, guess what? The sky is falling! The sky is falling! And this government has turned me into a full-blown cynic (yeah, like I haven't been one for a while now), as I notice once again that warnings like this always seem to come out when no one wants to play any reindeer games on the playground with George anymore.

Also, apparently Tom Selleck will be playing Dwight Eisenhower in a TV movie. Excuse me while I sit in a corner and scrub the mental image of Ike with Magnum P.I.'s enormous mustache from my brain with steel wool.

Don't you just love this post? It's link-tastic! ;)

I'm guessing you don't watch Conan, then? Tom was on last week promoting both Ike, in which he doesn't have a moustache, and some other project in which he does, and Conan convinced him to shave off half of his moustache and promote the two different projects while turned in different directions, so that the camera only sees the relevant half of his face.

...it was funny at the time, at least.

You know, that's one of the reasons I love Tom Selleck ... because he's game to do anything. (And cool and sweet and a good actor to boot, which is why I can totally see him pulling off the role. But it won't stop the image of Dwight in a Hawaiian shirt from coming into my head, damn it all.)

I don't blame you (for any of that). He's always a great guest on Conan. One time, when he visited with a moustache after having previously been there without it, they had him visit his old moustache in the hospital. It was actually kinda depressing to watch him put the old moustache out of its misery by smothering it with a tiny pillow, but hilariously so.

*blinks* Intelligence? This is the Bush Administration we're talking about still, right?

So we're going to spend all of our time leading up to peak oil and the like fighting over it like children, rather than switching gradually to alternative fuels sources like every other first world country on the planet? Nice. I wonder if it's too late to move.
