May. 29th, 2004 04:04 amI need to get a copy of Entertainment Weekly right the fuck NOW. Okay, so if I spontaneously orgasm just looking at that EW cover, that's not weird, right?
And this is assuming that EW does what it normally does and gets them all from different movies, I'll bet I can get at least seven of them right, although obviously not the order.
1. "Titanic" -- The ship sinks.
2. "The Poseidon Adventure" -- The ship flips over. (Alternatively, if I had to pick any other moment in the movie, Shelley Winters' death scene is just the epitome of camp.)
3. "Armageddon" -- New York and the space shuttle get soundly trounced.
4. "Deep Impact" -- The first meteor hits and causes that big-ass wave.
5. "Earthquake" -- Uh, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the earthquake. (I mean, the biggest one.)
6. "Airport" -- Dean Martin tries to weasel the bomb from Guerrero and fucks it up, and the moron blows a big old hole in the bathroom. (Although, if we're going with at least one airplane crash, I'd pick "Alive" for this one, not to mention the crashes in "Final Destination" and "Fight Club" scared me a hell of a lot more. But hey, if we're resorting solely to disaster movies, I'd guess either "Alive" or "Airport" for this one.)
7. "Twister" -- The cow flies. (I'm not exactly sure about that one, but considering it's the bit everybody remembers ...)
8. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" -- L.A. gets nuked. (Hey, it counts. Some place on this list has to get a nuking, and name a better film nuclear attack.)
9. "Independence Day" -- The aliens blow up Washington, New York, L.A., and other places people in Hollywood have never heard of.
10. "The Perfect Storm" -- Yet another big-ass wave. My favorite genre's full of 'em. ;)
