How to prove you've never walked a dog on a leash or, quite possibly, never seen a photo before.

You know, I don't immediately assume chicks who pounce on Kate Bosworth for every little thing she does are jealous because she's nailing Orlando Bloom, but it's posts like this that make me understand why people could reach that conclusion. Because this? Is kinda stupid, actually.

how the hell did you find that - hope it is a more complicated answer than "she is on my flist/i am on that orlando list" ;P

[livejournal.com profile] blackgarden linked to it ... at least, I think that's who it was. I just got back from the movies, so my mind's a little fuzzy with Dubya-hatred right now.

Sheesh! You just want to smack them all and tell them to try walking a dog sometime.

It doesn't help that I have no idea who this woman is, let alone why they all hate her so.

Yeah, I don't get it. As someone completely on the outside of this fandom, to me it looks like the dog is jumping and she might, possibly, be trying to make it stop. I'm really not seeing animal abuse.

I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Of course, only a very few haven't proved me incredibly optimistic on that count. *eye roll*

Puppy looks like he's doing the exact same thing my dog used when he was trying to slide out of his collar.

Icon Love!

Yeah, my dog gets like that sometimes. She's very neurotic; at her worst, she'll stop dead half a mile from home, and refuse to move. I've had to pick her up and carry her a couple of times, and I should mention here that she's a fully grown labrador.

Almost as bad is when she wilfully slips her collar and tries to run under the nearest moving vehicle. And normally she's such a happy creature...

My icon thanks you. I think I ganked it from [livejournal.com profile] illian a while back.

My dog would go barrelling along country roads with me until we turned around back the way we came. It was the only way to get back without walking "around the block" which was about four miles, a mile to each intersection. When we'd turn around, he'd dawdle like a sulking teenager.

What a loon! It looks like a puppy who hasn't quite learned how to walk on a leash yet. It pisses me off a tad that Bosworth is being a responsible pet owner in that picture - more so than most other people - by using a leash (domesticated animals? do not have a biological need to run off leash in public areas, not to mention it's illegal in most places), and she's being branded an abuser for it? I find it hard to believe that, in the OP's vast experience walking dogs for an animal shelter once a month or whatever, that her animals have *never* gotten tangled in a leash, that the puppies are all perfectly behaved and heel all the time.

yeah wait until you get to the comment by either one of the others or the one who posted (I forget offhand) when they say they don't like leashes and there's no reason for a dog to be on leash at a beach anyway. *headwall*

I can see it for a well trained dog; Woofles goes out in public off leash in most places because he's trained to the "stay with me" command. That command means, "you say within arms reach of me until I release you." I'm confident with him that he will NOT break that command no matter what the distraction.

Tilly is 100% on leash in a non-fenced in area. She'd stay with me if there were no distractions, but the first time a rabbit, squirrel, cat, another dog, person, or anything interesting crossed our path she'd be GONE. Even on an empty beach I wouldn't let her off lead for that reason. I'd have her on a 50ft drag line so she could wander about as she pleased, but it'd still be easy to catch her if need be.

Exactly. Mille will come when I call, usually, but you can never be sur enough. I'd only ever let her off a leash in the fenced dog parks near us, and a beach is out of the question. Especially because there are small children/other people on the beach who might feel threatened by a dog.

Dear god, it's fans like this who make me want to break out my uzi.

I was once on a mailing list for Michael Wincott fans about the time everyone thought he was seeing Juliette Lewis. These women were calling her names you wouldn't call a two-dollar whore, and finally I said, "Um, ladies, none of you are ever going to schtup this guy, so what difference does it make who he sees?"

Total meltdown.

These people have too much time on their hands.

i laughed so fucking hard when i saw that initially.

I mean, I'm an Orli fangirl like the rest of them, but if you're gonna bash her, at least do it about something reasonable and defensively: posibbly her acting skills

I'm unclear why anyone would even bother going after her? Everyone I know thinks their relationship is a crock of shit anyway. I mean, I've heard Orlando referred at as the Ian McKellan of his generation and I'm very sure it was not beause he is a wonderful actor.

Orlando is lovely and all, but I think I'd rather date someone who doesn't lead half the earth to call me a beard. But that's just me probably.
