How to take the chance of upping the number of abortions ... let's make it harder to get the Pill!

You know, if I were on the Pill, and my pharmacist and/or doctor refused to give it to me, I would throw them off and get new ones who would, anyway. But it just ... it fucking pisses me off that these are supposedly educated people who should know better on both an intellectual level and a subjective level. (Because God knows, not all women are taking the Pill to prevent pregnancy.)

Urgh. Stupid people suck.

It makes me sad that these people are allowed to be doctors and pharmacists.

Oh for fuck's sake! Like getting a tubal without having kids isn't going to be bad enough for me with most doctors opposed to letting women NOT be mothers. Now they want control over the number of children I shouldn't have.

Doctors, Out of my ovaries!

Also, birth control stops ovulation so the eggs stay in the ovaries. Normal ovulation without birth control flushes eggs out of the system. By not shagging like a bunny, THAT'S how you have a silent abortion. Birth control saves potential babies really. So the doctors who force women to ovulate without becoming pregnant are the abortion providers. Ahh twisting the brain!

Speaking as a male?

I don't know how bad cramps can be, but if you need to take medication for it, doesn't that make it an issue of painkillers? I.e. you don't know what it feels like, therefore don't interfere? I could sort of see the logic (see, not agree with) of a female doctor not proscribing, as she would be subject to the same rules... but what right does a male doctor have?

Women should be deciding this issue, as only they would be affected. Why are old white men deciding this?

Anyone ever read this?

I would imagine that yes, pain should go away but if your innards are clenching, that should stop also. Not being a female, I'm not positive about this

I meant that if painkillers are needed, then it should be viewed as a painkiller, not birth control. Form follows function.

Do these people believe that with no birth control, people will stop having sex?!?

Can we say NOT YOUR FUCKING CHOICE? You know, my body, my morals? Sure, if you believe the pill causes abortions - tell me if you want. Tell me why you don't think I should use this pill and see if it changes my mind. But don't tell me I'M not allowed to use it because YOU don't agree with it - that's not your choice and not your job. Fuck off. Err and I'm going to stop there before this turns into a full on rant in the journal of someone I don't even know /lurker.

Ack! The stupid, it burns!

Why is it that every asshole around seems to be allowed to have a say about what goes on with a woman's ovaries except the women themselves? Next up: the angry mob pursues doctors and pharmacists who do perform abortions or sell birth control with pitchforks and torches. Welcome to the The Dark Ages II.

1.) It's my body. If I want to take pills that make my body function in a better manner, and/or prevent an unwanted pregnancy, it's my business -- not some asshole pharmacist's.

2.) If you deny me my pills, I will sue you so fast your head will spin. Technically, it's malpractice if a doctor does not dispense a prescription that will allow a patient's body to function in a better manner.

3.) I hate George W. Bush.

4.) I'm this close to hating all Conservatives.

5.) Don't come between me and my pills.

6.) I don't want kids. Ever. Not even if I meet the right guy. My genetic cocktail is fucked up enough that I know bringing a child into the world isn't going to make the world a better place. It'll just frustrate me and everyone else. And it's already difficult enough to prevent pregnancy without complete abstinence -- the government shouldn't be able to legislate on issues of my body and my personal needs like they know and/or give a flying fuck what I'm going to want or need in my future.

7.) If I want to have an abortion, I'm going to have one -- and as of right now, it's legal. So are contraceptives. So, isn't denying me the right to have legal drugs and procedures illegal on their part?

Ugh. My brain hurts. FUUUUUCK.

I just read this by chance and I can't begin to tell you how appalled I am. This would (as far as I know, God help us!) NEVER happen in the UK. What happens if a doctor refuses to give you a blood tranfusion because they're a Jevovah's witness and believe its wrong?? Its the same thing. Everyone - woman or man - has a right to decide what healthcare they think is 'morally' right for them, not the practitioner. The practitioner deals in medical care, which should be unbiased, and never informed by religious beliefs. What are they intending to do with all the millions of unwanted babies that would be produced every year if they managed to ban hormonal contraception?

I am just unspeakably, indescribably appalled.

Not too many months ago, Michigan passed some law saying that doctors could refuse to treat gay people.

I don't recall the precise details, though.

Bleh. I can't believe pharmacists who work for corporate America are allowed to decide such things on an individual basis. Sounds like I've got yet another reason to avoid CVS.

Last year a broken condom resulted in a search for the Morning After Pll (basically a super-dose of The Pill). My gyno gave me a prescription without hesitation, but only one pharmacist in the town would fill it. Just to see what they would say, I called several others, including the one my family has used literally for generations. Each of the other pharmacies reacted like I'd asked for a script to help me with the indegestion I got from eating all those live puppies.

Did that fucker Anthony Comstock start giving advice to stupid white Christian conservatives from beyond the grave or something?

I'd like to take some of those ole farty bastards and give them cramps so bad that THEY pass out.

That'd be fun.

None of those pratty buggers understand the concept that birth control has multiple uses anyway.

Even better is the fact that they can't even prove that the pill prevents implantation rather than fertilization! It's like me going outside and declaring that aliens will attack the earth within the week, then telling everyone who disagrees with me that they are going to hell, because even though I can't prove that aliens are going to attack, they can't prove that they aren't.

Not even going to touch the misogyny issue. *fumes*
