The Passion of the Christ comes out on DVD tomorrow. Is it wrong that I want to put on my most offensive T-shirt, go to Suncoast, and just watch?

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] middyblue has some great protest photos here.

No, no it's not.

It is, in fact, imperitive that you do so.

most offensive t-shirt? like what? 'jesus gives good head'? 'mary had an abortion'? 'god: the ultimate deadbeat dad'? :)

Put your icon on a shirt and go. Then, if you survive, come back and tell us all about it. :-D

And thanks for the link to the photos. They're brilliant.

Too bad there isn't time to get one of these if you don't already have one:

They're available from here.

Oh.... that would go for almost ANY religion. Christianity is only one of many, believe me.....

Of course. But I don't know of any T-shirts for those.

Actually, I'm going to rent the movie because I really do want to see it. I'm not a hyper-religious Catholic but I never got to see it in the theaters and I'm curious - and I'm not letting any hype sway my opinion - I figure I'm adult enough to watch the thing and form my own opinions about it - I still don't understand why it got such a burr up people's butts. It's a MOVIE, folks... get a life! Guess I'm just naive that way, but there are a lot more important things to get angry about, IMHO.

Don't shoot me, I only offer my humble opinion in the gentlest sense. I know my viewpoint isn't shared by a lot of people but it's meant harmlessly, honest! :-))

a) I think you totally should go to Suncoast in your most offensive t-shirt and then tell us about it.

b) Those pictures were incredible. Thanks for linking them.

I'm just about to run out the door to catch the bus, but I've been checking pigwidgeon_the_unholy @ yahoo.com all day because that's what my LJ account's linked to. :)

Last time I was at Suncoast they asked me if I wanted to pre-order it. I said "I'd rather eat ground glass than support Mel Gibson or that film." So you can probably guess that I think a rude tee would be just the thing.

They asked me, too, as if I didn't know already that it was coming out from the photo op next to the register of the beaten, bloody lump of flesh hanging from the cross. If I'd thought about it at the time, I would have politely said no and asked for something less violent, like Gladiator or Kill Bill.

Over in the blockbuster video community, there are many complaints of stores recieving awfully low numbers of copies. Because nobody is going to rent what was popular in theatres or something.

I wouldn't be suprised if some BBV flunky had a mad on for Gibson and decided to screw things up

Hey, I used to work at Suncoast. It was only as a temp for Christmas, but it was so much fun. (I totally wish I'd gotten the talking R. Lee Ermey "Full Metal Jacket" doll while I still could have. *sigh*)

My boss used to make me alphabetize the sections. I think he did it for the giddy little squeal I'd make.

I think it's a brilliant idea.

Although the fishing might be better at Wal-Mart.

Just a thought.

True, but I can't get to Wal-Mart from here. (Well, not without a car, anyway. *grumbles*)

That would be awesome. Especially if it were the "There are two people fucking on the back of this shirt!/Just kidding! Believe in Jesus!" shirt from tshirthell.com.

It's only wrong in the sense that the only person who's buying this thing at a Suncoast is me, because I'm the only Christian on Earth who didn't see the movie when it was in theaters, and because I have a Replay Card and a coupon for five dollars off at Suncoast. So basically, I'm so cheap and lazy that I waited six months to check out this movie, and even still I refuse to pay full price for it. And I'm probably gonna browse the tentacle porn section before I make my purchase.

You're better off at Wal-Mart. The Suncoast demographic is just too thick-skinned. Hell, you can probably _buy_ an offensive Jesus T-shirt at Suncoast.

One thing to keep in mind...the South Park episode "Passion of the Jew" comes out on DVD tomorrow as well.

I kind of want it, although I don't really want to give my money to Mel. Perhaps I shall steal it. I need it, you see, so that I can play the drinking game.
