Two questions that have made me think waaaaaaay too much into the last twenty-four hours:

1. In Underworld, Michael became half-vampire and half-werewolf. So what does it mean if he bites someone else? Do they become half-vampire and half-werewolf, or do they croak? And why the hell do I even care?

... and ...

2. If Gore had ended up with the presidency, and September 11th had still happened, and the Democrats had mentioned at the DNC this year that he should be reelected partly for his bang-up job after 9/11, how would the Republicans have responded?

I need to think about something else infinitely more important to me in the short run, like, say, my TroNoWriMo story. Oh, yes. *scurries off to write*

EDIT: Yet another thing that makes me think.

While 9-11 would still have happened, there would be some differences...

  1. We would not have attacked a country *cough* Iraq*cough* which had no connection
  2. We would not have acted arbitrarily, nor lied about the evidence
  3. We would not have cut taxes for the rich, which Bush seemed to think was the highest priority
  4. We would have more fuel efficient cars
  5. California would not have been raped by the energy companies
  6. The lunatics, err lobbyists, would not be in charge of the departments they lobbied for previously
  7. We would have been asked to sacrifice, to do something to feel like we were helping
  8. The terrorists in Israel would not have been rewarded with a state
  9. The nations of the world would not hate us
  10. Our plan for energy and global warming would not actually be corporate welfare
  11. The economy would be better
  12. More people would be employed/have healthcare
  13. Drug prices would not be usurious
  14. The vets in Iraq would not be dead
  15. The Iraqis would not be dead
  16. The Afghanis would not be dead

California would not have been raped by the energy companies

Oh, yes, they would have. That has/had nothing to do with the president, and everything to do with the government of the State of California, who approved all those contracts (and under whose leadership CA outlawed many forms of electricity production while allowing the headcount of the state to spiral). CA did that to themselves. They got nobody else to blame.

The lunatics, err lobbyists, would not be in charge of the departments they lobbied for previously

Bush/Gore? Two sides of the same coin, baby. Both spoiled rich kids who rode to power on their daddys' coattails. If you don't think he'd have been practicing nepotism just as much as Bush, think again. :/

When CA asked for help, they would have received it.

And while Gore might have practiced nepotism, he would not have given up all pretense of impartiality.

Why should they get help? They made that bed themselves, over many long years. The state needed to get themselves out of it (starting with building more power plants) instead of expecting the federal government to bail them out at everyone else's expense.

Because the companies were engaging in fraud?

But they weren't. CA just made a bad business deal, and those companies took advantage of it.
