Aug. 31st, 2004 10:16 amTwo questions that have made me think waaaaaaay too much into the last twenty-four hours:
1. In Underworld, Michael became half-vampire and half-werewolf. So what does it mean if he bites someone else? Do they become half-vampire and half-werewolf, or do they croak? And why the hell do I even care?
... and ...
2. If Gore had ended up with the presidency, and September 11th had still happened, and the Democrats had mentioned at the DNC this year that he should be reelected partly for his bang-up job after 9/11, how would the Republicans have responded?
I need to think about something else infinitely more important to me in the short run, like, say, my TroNoWriMo story. Oh, yes. *scurries off to write*
EDIT: Yet another thing that makes me think.

Date: 2004-08-31 07:45 am (UTC)Urgh. I shouldn't have to use the words Underworld and sequel in the same thought process.

'2. If Bush were the one who had gone to Vietnam and earned Purple Hearts, and Kerry was the one who had stayed home because he had powerful connections, and Democratic delegates at the DNC passed around and wore Purple Heart band-aids to mock Bush's military service, how would the Republicans have responded?'
Republican Delegates Mock Purple Heart at Convention

Date: 2004-08-31 08:24 am (UTC)2. Is that a rhetorical question? (See mockery of Kerry's Vietnam career.) Although if you believe Moore, if Gore had been president, 9-11 wouldn't have happened. ::eyeroll::
*There's a mental image for ya!

Date: 2004-08-31 09:03 am (UTC)While 9-11 would still have happened, there would be some differences...

Date: 2004-08-31 09:30 am (UTC)Oh, yes, they would have. That has/had nothing to do with the president, and everything to do with the government of the State of California, who approved all those contracts (and under whose leadership CA outlawed many forms of electricity production while allowing the headcount of the state to spiral). CA did that to themselves. They got nobody else to blame.
The lunatics, err lobbyists, would not be in charge of the departments they lobbied for previously
Bush/Gore? Two sides of the same coin, baby. Both spoiled rich kids who rode to power on their daddys' coattails. If you don't think he'd have been practicing nepotism just as much as Bush, think again. :/

Date: 2004-08-31 01:05 pm (UTC)And while Gore might have practiced nepotism, he would not have given up all pretense of impartiality.

Date: 2004-08-31 01:35 pm (UTC)Why should they get help? They made that bed themselves, over many long years. The state needed to get themselves out of it (starting with building more power plants) instead of expecting the federal government to bail them out at everyone else's expense.

Date: 2004-08-31 10:22 am (UTC)Are you kidding? If Gore had ended up with the presidency and September 11th had still happened, on September 12th the Republicans would have started the negative campaigning on the theme that 9/11 was all Gore's fault. The DNC wouldn't be in New York. The Democrats would be too scared to mention 9/11, which would be known as "their tragedy." And if they did mention it, the Republicans wouldn't have to say anything because it would just remind people of the tragedy that was all the Democrats' fault. Stupid, really, to remind people of your massive screw-ups during a campaign.
I'm joking. ... Well, kind of.
