If you haven't gotten a chance to see Eminem's video for "Mosh", I uploaded a copy of the file to YouSendIt. It's probably the best protest song (and video) we've had so far. (You can't get it through that link anymore, so go to Rap Basement ... they've got it for download there, too.)

EDIT: The things that diehard baseball fans will do for luck when their team is losing a World Series game. Hee.

Also, this time next week ... in theory ... it will all be over. Thank God.

RANDOMLY HUGGING SEATMATE OF EDIT: Aw. I want to hug the Cards fans. They look so sad. They all look like they could use booze and puppies and teddy bears. (Yes, I'm always this nuts come World Series time. Why do you ask?)

ELECTION-WEARY VOYEUR OF EDIT: If you didn't get to play Compliment the Candidate You Hate earlier today ... I triple-dog dare you. With that in mind, it's either compliment a candidate or stick your tongue to a frozen flagpole. Your choice. :)

Well, the attack ads and campaign calls will stop, at any rate. I'm quite looking forward to it.

As a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, Florida...I would just like to say this:

*CRIES*

You don't even want to know what they've told the poor jokers who work in the same building as the state elections officials. Newsvans have already picked out their spots near the capitol building.

And where I work? A voting precinct.

I actually realized that right after I posted it. I am so with you. My father the archaeologist has to go to a meeting on Friday telling him and the rest of the goons in the Bureau of Archaeological Research that they have to behave next week.

You can't tell archaeologists to behave. It's like telling a class full of five year olds with ADHD to behave. Someone's gonna end up wearing a bike helmet plastered with Kerry stickers all day, I know it.

Hi, you don't know me, but I'm a Archaeology MA and you totally made my day and restored my faith in the profession. I hope they have a lot of fun. Thanks!

Oh, knowing Dad and his coworkers? They're going to have an absolute blast. My dad's gleeful joy at being a mischevious preschooler (and the really incredible research he gets to do) has made me want to follow in his footsteps. :)

I plan on going into archaeology when I head back to school.

I live in Florida, too, and dude, your username is THE GREATEST. PALMETTOS ARE EVERYWHERE. I think they'll take over the world soon.

It's either them or the kudzu, but I didn't especially want to name myself after that. ;) At least palmettos are a native species.

I'd be happy with just the booze, thanks. *weary sigh*

George Bush seems to honestly love and respect his family, and his family him, so I have to respect that.

'tis an excellent movie.

Also, complementing the candidate: uh, damn. I'd say he's a good dog person, but the dropping-Barney-on-his-head incident stops me. I was going to say he has strong Texan values, (Texan m'self here,) but then I think of him riding around his farm in a golf cart and calling it a ranch. I'd say he was a good family man who's done well by his daughters, but I lived two blocks away from the bar where Jenna tried to show a fake ID for booze. I could say he stands by his convictions, but I've been looking at Presidential flip-flop lists for weeks.

...this is HARD!

Ok, seriously trying here. George W. Bush has clearly been through some hard times in his life, in spite of his wealth and upbringing. I respect that he was able to pull himself out of slumps and continue on with life; many, many people are unable to put down the bottle, and he was certainly well-cushioned enough that sticking to it for life was a viable option. He didn't.

Bush has a plan for social security. Not, you know, a great plan, but he has a plan. Go Bush. It's a start.
