The good news is somebody's helping me now. The bad news is I'm probably still not getting home in time for the end of the game. (It'll even out on November 1st, when I develop a debilitating illness and have to stay home. Cough, cough. ;))

I may call one of you big Sox fans watching the game if they're still winning in the 7th and I haven't gotten home yet. I'm desperate for someone who's actually excited.

Wait. There are people who aren't excited about the Sox possibly sweeping the World Series?!

Names. I need names. I must have... words... with these infidels.

Well, there was someone who was as excited as I was, but she left. ARGH.

I just sang along with your icon. Fabulous.

I'm a Red Sox fan!

I just sent you my phone number. Call if you like. This is utterly wonderful and just so insane. I came home from school and watched the 1978 playoff game with the Yankees! *whimper* Can this really be happening?

I've got my iPod set on random and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" came on. I can take that as a sign, right?

(I got your email, btw, but give me another inning. It should take me that long to get enough airbills done that'll I'll feel relaxed enough to call. *squeals, goes back to typing*)

That's a definite sign. Thank you for telling me!

*whimpers, heads back out to the TV and the beloved husband who adopted my team even though he was a Padres fan*

I AM EXCITED.

(For clarification, I have lived in the metro Boston area for nearly 24 years and counting, as my lease isn't up until next August. Red Soxes are in the BLOOD here.)

I am also having little tiny heart attacks with virtually every swing and play. Also also I have an 8-page paper due tomorrow that I haven't started yet. Damned MFA program. THIS IS BASEBALL.

If the Sox win tonight -- which, at the bottom of the 6th, is at least seeming possible -- I am going to pas out, then I am going to revive, then I am going to go get something alcoholic from my fridge, then I am going to scream out of my window as loudly as I can, then I am going to revel, then I am going to pass out again, then I am going to revive, then I am going to revel some more, and then I am going to say, "shit, I have eight pages to write now."

And if they don't win tonight, well, at least my grades won't suffer quite as badly. ;)

If the Red Sox win this series, it's entirely possible I'll have a new favorite baseball team. (They're my grandfather's team, so it's okay, although I used to be into the Blue Jays and ever since high school, I've been into the Reds by default because my dad's a huge fan. And we live in the area of a Phillies farm team. We <3 baseball in my family, can you tell? ;))

God, I hope my grandpa doesn't go too nuts tonight. Hee.

My parents moved to Rhode Island when I was 21, and now they're only a 15-minute drive away from the Red Sox farm team in Pawtucket. Those are fun games, actually. :) Cheap, too.

Please oh please let the Red Sox win. I'll deal with a season of gloating if I never, ever have to hear about that curse again. I'll deal with their infernal whining about the Yankees' payroll even though theirs is almost as outrageous, as long as I never hear the word "Bambino" again. I'll deal with the fact that they chant "Yankees Suck" at their frickin' Super Bowl victory parades, as long as I never, ever have to listen to a perfectly good franchise's endless litany of "woe is me."

They're the better team, their fans and bandwagon hangers-on annoy the **** out of me, and they need to finish this today. That is all.

Just three outs away from winning, eh? I should be sleeping as I only got 2 1/2 hours of sleep last night, but I'm watching the game instead.
