Picture spotted here, and ... well, honestly, that's just begging to be an icon. (And before anyone asks, yes, you can steal it. :))

EDIT: Oh, and if you voted for Bush, as I know quite a few of you did, please read this letter by [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen. Don't worry, it's not a big flamefest or anything.

Thanks for the post. I'd seen the icon a few times already. TBQ is now on my list of links that I'm compiling for [livejournal.com profile] rustycoon.

That was a really bizarre letter, I mention as a Kerry-voting Republican. Just for the record, being a Republican does not and never has implied agreement with everything, nor is it ever going to. Nor does it mean I contributed resources to the Bush campaign (I contributed to Kerry's). This isn't a prop-rep system. Political power isn't divvied up by how many people are in each party. And if Bush isn't listening to us, it's still not about what party we're in; we're still invisible to him. He's just looking at that majority vote. I doubt he cares a whit whether it's Dems or Republicans who gave it to him.

But...but...if you did Vote for bush, that means you agree with him! Even if you don't! Yeah!

See, here's another interesting question...

Everyone's asking why X voted for Bush. My question is (and this isn't a flame) why did folks vote for Kerry? If it was just becasue "he's not Bush" then that's just as bad as saying someone voted for Bush due to values. Again, it's based on what people believe in.

What did Kerry really stand for? I've never been all that sure - I've read/listened to him and he's contradicted himself on many issues. I think he would've stayed true to the party for the most part, but even then...I dunno. He's talked about staying in Iraq, he's had an anti-gay stance, and he's voted *for* the US PATRIOT ACT. Yes, I would've preferred a Libertarian, but we didn't have a strong Libertarian on the ballot. The Democrats don't speak to me and neither do the Republicans. So I'm basically left trying to decide the lesser of two evils.

And that could be why some Americans voted the way they did - they knew what they were getting.

Now, let teh shizzle hit the fan.

I didn't vote for Bush or for Kerry.

I voted for the man I wanted in the White House. Howard Dean.

Who would've beat them BOTH if they hadn't intentionally spindoctored his chances right down the tubes.

*Nods.* Very good point. At least Dean had/has a recognizable platform, which is something the Dems still need in a big way. We'll have to see if he's willing to run again or if The Scream issue might jeopardize his chances.

I'm not a huge Dean fan, mostly because I don't agree with a few of his stronger platforms, but he probably would've had a better chance at winning the White House if he'd had a better planning team. The Press certainly didn't help his chances when they turned him into a raving loon, but I also think he could've been more prepared for the caucuses and the press.
