Nov. 9th, 2004 09:58 amWell, I called in sick at work, but Colin, God of Sex, was busy doing something else and said through Oh-Woe-Is-Me-Ooooo that he'd call me back when he was done. Wish he'd hurry up and call back already. *grumblegrumble*
Jeez, I haven't played hooky in about six months. :)
EDIT: ACK! More Lost spoilers on AICN! Paul Dini was the writer who gave out the spoilers ...
* This week Charlie will accuse Hurley of hoarding food - because Hurley never gets any skinnier.
Aw, Charlie! Leave Hurley alone! Unless you've got a scale to prove him wrong, lay off. :P
* Sayid’s torture of Sawyer this week will involve fingernails and sharp objects.
I'm torn between saying, "Aw, Sayid! Leave Sawyer alone!" and, "Ooooo, shoots under fingernails!" Sawyer just brings that out in me.
* Each “Lost” writer had to pull three names out of a hat. Dini got Locke, Sawyer and Sun and was instructed to write a history for each of the three. Dini says Locke having the same name as the philosopher is not a coincidence.
Yes, thank you, we figured that one out already. And we've got enough background info on Sun. I want Sawyer info, like, yesterday!
* “… the monster is sort of a reflection of yourself. The pilot saw it in horror and he was killed because he feared the monster. Locke saw the monster with true awe, therefore, he was able to survive his encounter.”
Ooo-kay.
* Though we may never see the entire monster, Dini says it may be "a Loch Ness Monster kind of thing.”
Call me crazy, but I would neither be in awe or afraid of a Loch Ness monster type of thing.
* When the idea was to have Jack killed off in the pilot, the creators discussed casting Michael Keaton as Jack.
*snerk* That would have been awesome.
* The characters of Scott and Steve, introduced last week, will soon have speaking parts.
Yay! Scott and Steve! They're so cool! They have ... uh ... names and stuff. :)
* At least one main character and several minor ones will die before season’s end.
Aw, maaaaan. That's a vicious taunt. Although we're going to need to have words if they kill Charlie, Hurley, Claire, Claire's baby, Locke, Sun, Jin, Sawyer, Boone, Jack, Kate, Shannon, Sayid, Michael, Walt, the dog, the monster, the French lady, Scott, Steve, or the island. Uh, yeah. No, I'm not a slavering fangirl. *G*
* Mira Furlan will soon be introduced in a “very important role." Invisotext on: It’s been reported elsewhere that Furlan will play the French woman we heard at the end of the series’ second hour. She'll turn up next week, if not sooner.
I knew that already, but still. French lady ... yay!

Think Vorlon or the creature from Stephen King's IT.

I think they mean that we will never be able to accurately say we ever saw the monster, particularly if it is intended as a cypher.

Though, Delenn on a desert island. I keep thinking of the scene in B5 where she shows up with a fleet of White Stars, flips off Earth Force, and announces "He is behind me. You are in front of me." Like they'll meet her and she'll have gathered an army of monkeys and send the monster cringing away in defeat by sheer force of will and accent. ;)

The more I learn about this episode, the more I want to hide under the couch and make frightened little wibbling noises. It's good frightened, at least, rather than S7 BtVS "Please, please, let Buffy keep something that resembles her integrity," frightened.

You know, I just now remember the Red Dwarf commentary on the pilot ep where the show's creators talked about how they really tried to get Sean Connery or someone like that to play the ship's captain since the whole point was that the entire crew minus one guy in stasis gets killed off in the first ep...
