So I stopped at Best Buy before going to work to get printer ink and paper and very nearly broke my No Movies rule to buy The Breed. (Instead of what I did do, which was break it to buy a copy of a movie I haven't seen in years but am thinking of reccing on [livejournal.com profile] movie_recs. And also Oscar, because it was only $5.99, which was only slightly less expense to me than the cost of the embarrassment I feel.)

The Breed, for anyone who doesn't know, was an absolutely dreadful vampire movie starring Adrian Paul. And I call it "absolutely dreadful" as someone who has an unapologetic love for My Best Friend is a Vampire and Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. It's crap in the purest sense of the word, but it's honestly pure-grade %100 Q&A-movie-review-fertilizer crap. I would just have to lose six bucks and two hours of time to that fiasco to write the review, alas, so it stayed at Best Buy. And will stay there, forever and ever, as long as karma continues to tussle with Adrian Paul's sad, sad career. :)

EDIT: Dear Sweet Factory, please sell Bottlecaps in bulk. That's all I ask. Sincerely, me.

I liked "Oscar". It has Stallone in it, right?

Yup. It's incredibly cheesy, but at least the cast realized it. And dude, Tim Curry. Even as a nerd, he's still Tim Curry.

I thought Oscar was a hoot. I'm not usually one for farce, but it was pretty damn funny.

He played the guy who ended up engaged to the legitimate daughter, right?

Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat

Oh, my god - you mean, somebody besides me has a copy of that? ::laughs::

Well, I don't have a copy of that. But that doesn't stop me from keeping an eye out for it. :)

Try "Blood and Donuts", too. You'll like it. David Cronenberg has a cameo as a crime boss.

Someone gave me a copy of "The Breed." And I actually tried to watch it. I made it about 45 minutes before I couldn't take any more....

Well, look at the bright side. You didn't have to pay for it.

Of course, you did end up with a copy anyway.

I got rid of it pretty darn quick too......I think I foisted it off on the ex-hubby.....(he likes crap like that.....I believe his words were "It actually wasn't that bad"..... *shudder*).

I own a copy of Highlander End Game much to my husband's horror (in his world there was only one Highlander movie. period.) simply because it has Adrian Paul's sexy naked ass. Breed was crap & the pretty pretty boy was all that kept me watching it! I'm thinking it would have been better with the sound off...

The only reason a bunch of us went to go see Endgame was for Peter Wingfield and to make fun of the movie MST3K-style. Alas, there was actually someone else in that theater who wanted to see it. That was probably the one person who did. *sigh*

I...have seen the Breed. My mother and aunt - who have been on two Highlander cruises and many, many, MANY more conventions - made me watch it. The plied me with wine to do so. They needed to. It never ended. Adrian Paul reminded me of John Travolta on that one sketch where he was an effeminite Dracula that everyone thought was gay.

*shudder*

And if it has Tim Curry in it, there's no shame in loving it. I love Oscar.

My Best Friend is a Vampire is an unsung eighties classic. Classic, I tell you! I actually hounded my local video store into selling me their copy by pointing out (repeatedly) that I was the only person who ever rented it.

Yep. No shame. LOL

The Breed is pretty awful, though. Or maybe I'm just thinking of Adrian Paul's facial... whatever in it.

I saw a meme the other day with a list of questions, one of which was something like "If you could have any prop from a movie, which one would you want?" And one of the first things that came to mind was that "How To Be A Vampire" book from My Best Friend is a Vampire. All I can think every time I watch that movie is, "I wanna reeeeeeeeeeeead!" :)

Filled with handy tips about accessorizing your new-found pale with shades, getting your pig's blood from the butcher's, and how to use the Jedi mind trick to get laid.

That'd be a great read. ;)
