Spotted on the front page of IMDb ...

Was it all that wine? Drunk on something, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association toasted Sideways with five awards, including Best Film and Best Director.

Blow me, IMDb. Way to make it sound like they all had to have been wasted to vote for Sideways, which was one of the best films all year.

EDIT: When Marine Lance Cpl. David Battle learned he'd either have to sacrifice his ring finger or the wedding band he wore, he told doctors at a field hospital in Iraq to cut off the finger. Then they amputated his finger and still lost the wedding band. You'd think they'd do a better job keeping track of it considering the man chose it over his own finger. *sigh*

I liked Sideways enough to where I'm irritated IMDb put it like that. (Although I still think Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was the best movie I saw all year, and if it doesn't get a Globe nomination for Best Picture tomorrow, I'll scream and cry.)

i second that emotion. sadly, i'm thinking the jim carrey factor might limit its chances. especially since we see him every 2 minutes on TV hee-hawing as count olaf, reminding voters that carrey is the goofy talking-out-his-asshole guy. never mind that he gave an absolutely stunning performance in eternal sunshine. (i also think he was totally robbed for man on the moon.)

I think the only thing helping his chances with ESotSM regarding all the Count Olaf commercials is that every review of the movie I've seen so far says that watching the movie just reminds the reviewer how awesome he was when he was being understated in ESotSM. Not that it's a lot, but at least it's something.

*sigh* Now I want to watch my Eternal Sunshine DVD. Damn. I'm supposed to be writing.

Well, I got 50k, but I didn't really finish that story. Plus, I still haven't finished the first book, and at the very least, I want that one done by the end of the month. (Because I'm going to get published in 2005 if it kills me.)
