apocalypsos: (fuck you)

I just went to check on something with my supervisor and found out that everybody's been wrong for the past three months when I've asked and we really don't have Christmas Eve off.

First of all ... the hell?!

Second of all ... it's really nice that the straight answer I've been getting from supervisors for the past three months has been wrong.

Third of all ... the HELL?!

Well, from what my supervisor says, I can probably talk the manager into letting me off anyway, since I already bought the bus ticket and I won't have anything to do next Friday, but still.

I'm sick of getting shafted for holidays. Grrr.

Hmm.

Well, the truth is, I just want to use the pickle, but:

WTF, mate? To go along with that sign, wear a Scrooge hat.

I'm working Christmas Eve AND New Year's Day. Angry? Just a bit. I'm getting time and a half for New Year's, but that only takes away some of the sting.

You are the person who does the work, and are therefore not important. Only those who do nothing, like the President, are recognized for the efforts of others.

Eww, that's awful.

I'm lucky where I work... I begged off Christmas Eve by saying I'd be more than happy to work New Years Eve. They're delighted. Could you try something like that?

Alas, no. Holidays? Why would I ever want a holiday? *end sarcasm*

I just wish I could get a straight answer around here from anyone. I swear, I was getting told up until a few weeks ago that we got Friday off, but now, oh, nooooooooo. *eye roll*

I'm so heading over to Starbucks to pick up a Washington Post with the classifieds. I think this is the last straw.

I don't get Christmas Eve off, either. Damn Christmas for being on a Saturday this year.

Thanks! *g* I actually made it last Christmas, but I brought it back because I was too lazy to make new holiday icons.

Yeah, but did you get Memorial Day, Labor Day and/or 4th of July off? This paper has a whopping four holidays, and one of them is fucking Easter.......(Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day being the others)....

Hm... no rotation of holidays or anything like that?

I've worked a lot of jobs where you have to "pay your dues" and work holidays at the beginning. I'm lucky where I am now, because I just stated from day one, I do not work Xmas eve. But, as it turns out, New Years Eve is the big problem, so the fact that I don't care and will work it, makes me popular.

It doesn't seem right. I think employers should let people know by the beginning of November what the holiday schedual is, and let people make plans or arrangements accordingly.

Awww, that sucks. Especially because they lied to you. Do you at least get holiday pay?

I'm working Christmas Eve, Boxing Day (an actual holiday up here), and will probably be doing inventory New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Dontcha just love the holiday season?

You think that's bad, my company has "forced overtime as per needs of the company" --- I got my next day off yanked from me, as well as forced to work both Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day --- and only on Eve am I getting holiday pay!

Too bad said company is an 800 pound gorilla (SBC Directory Ass-istance, where the motto is "We can't find it!")

Lizard Rat out.

The hell?!

I think a valid case can be made that since you've been told for THREE MONTHS you most certainly DO have it off, punks.

Of course. The only time they ever give you a straight answer is if they're lying, didn't you know that?
