Apparently, Moriarty's seen 'The Hitchhiker's Guide' to the Universe', and it's good. Here's hoping he's right. My favorite bit of the review: Regarding Zaphod's entrance ... It’s during a flashback as Arthur tells Ford about how he met this amazing girl, Tricia McMillan, at a party. Zaphod comes barging into their conversation with the best pick-up line ever: “Hi, is this guy boring you? I’m from another planet. Wanna see my spaceship?” *snerk* I so very much want to see Sam Rockwell deliver that line.

EDIT: I was just watching CBS News Sunday Morning because they were interviewing Paul Rusesabagina, and when they were done, they showed a preview for a story about the Spongebob controversy. But the best bit was that the preview was accompanied by "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross. *snerk*

Also, I LOVE the tact they're taking with this story. There's a very thinly veiled attitude of, "Dude, you're out of your ever-lovin' mind." Bwahahaha. The best part was when the reporter was pointing out classic TV "couples" like Lucy and Ethel and Mary and Rhoda and said, "They're all GAY! Gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, GAY!" *dies*

I *know*!!

It's like the fundies are constitutionally incapable of understanding that there existing something called "platonic love", (mostly) devoid of sexuality. ::sigh:: Love = Sex for too many people.

Not that any of us do that or anything.

*innocent* I know. Isn't it amazing? And to think here we thought only slashers did that. */innocent*

Yeah, I think the main difference between fundies and slashers if that I don't think any fundies had the same reaction to "They're all GAY!" that I did, which was to cheer, giggle hysterically, and say solemnly, "Yes ... yes, they are." *snerk*

*checks* Ah, my Brimstone-pimpin', show-explaining, any excuse to use this picture icon. I love it, too.

*loves this icon even more*

I'd never seen that picture before. I'm fascinated by the devil's ponytail. It's so...cute? Funny? Uke?

(I want a funny squiggle for a name.)

(Is the artist formerly known as Prince a damned soul, then?)

God love Brimstone. I watched that show religiously, so of course it was cancelled. It seems like if I love any show I watch *during its first season*, it promptly gets cancelled.

Maybe I should stop watching TV for the sake of good television everywhere.

It's exactly like the reporter pointed out about an episode of Buster that the fundies had a problem with because he went to Vermont and met a girl with two mommies. She basically said, "Buster didn't go into their bedrooms, for crying out loud. He just met a little girl with two mommies, like lots of kids do." Admittedly, the "like lots of kids do" wasn't said out loud, but damn it, it was nicely implied.

It was a great story, because the reporter pointed out that we're supposed to want our kids to be nicer and more accepting than we are, and being this stupid about freaking cartoon characters doesn't accomplish that.

But KKKristians and members of the Religious Reich don't want their kids to be nicer and more accepting! They want their kids to be mindless copies of their Bible-misquoting, xenophobic, intolerant-of-change selves!

Also, please note that I make a personal difference between those who truly follow Christ's example and the KKKristians and Religious Reich. TRUE Christians are, IMO, people of faith who try to bring good to all aspects of life, while recognizing the fallibility of mankind. Those others are more concerned with temporal power.

What's the Sponge Bob thing about? I've seen it alluded to, but I don't know what's going on.

Focus on the Family (at least, I think it was Focus on the Family, those belligerent assholes) said Spongebob is gay because he (among other cartoon characters) was in a video to be shown to school kids that promotes tolerance of everybody, regardless of race, color, creed, ethnicity, or sexual identity. Because everything else is okay to accept, but OMG TEH GAYZ!!1!1 *eye roll*

That HHGTTG review makes me much more optimistic about the project.

The casting already made me hugely optimistic, including Mos Def, whom everybody seemed to be having fits over when he was first cast. Moriarty's right -- the guy's a really good actor. (Actually, I don't know why people have trouble when rappers get cast as actors in films. Rappers are the ones who keep acting in films and getting great reviews -- it's pop stars who keeps acting in movies and fucking it all up.)

And reading that review made me want to watch Galaxy Quest. Hee. I'm going to have to wait until I'm done writing for today, and then I'll watch. :)

I keep thinking about Ice Cube in Three Kings. Perfectly, perfectly cast.

And Mos Def was great in the Italian Job remake.

I'm so looking forward to H2G2.

If the HHGTG movie doesn't work, I'll never be so disappointed. I'm afraid I was spoiled by the fantasticness of LOTR's book-to-movie transition, and it and HHGTG are two of my four favorite books ever. High expectations.
