Just got done watching Maria Full of Grace. Just ... wow. Damn. You really all need to see that movie. Oh, yes. Now I understand what all the fuss over Catalina Sandino Moreno was about. *is duly impressed*

EDIT: Dear Virginia -- to butcher a line from Lewis Black, after September 11th, this and gay marriage are what you're worried about? Bad government! No cookie.

Can you believe that was her first film? She was fantastic.

I know. And that scene in the airplane bathroom killed me. I couldn't have pretended to do that in a million years. Ew.

The best part is-she didn't rehearse any of that. She said she wanted to be just like Maria-scared and hesitant.

But when you wear your pants too low, you're supporting terrorism!

One of the protesters said that it would make black parents take time off of work because their kids are making a fashion statement.

The -entire- deal is so fucked up on so many levels

Well, at least now we don't have to worry about terrorists wearing low pants or marrying their same sex partners in crime.

We'll have well dressed, heterosexual terrorists.
Like God intended.

The state's House of Delegates passed a bill Tuesday authorizing a $50 fine for anyone who displays his or her underpants in a "lewd or indecent manner."

And then plumbers all over the US screamed in terror, until they realized that they didn't wear any underwear.

The problem of plumber's crack continues to this day, unburdened by underwear.

I just watched it on Sunday. Wow! And she didn't practice the swallowing ahead of time.
But... I'm not going to be rooting for her for best actress because it was her first role. We don't know yet how much was acting and how much was her. Like in 4 Weddings & a Funeral I thought Hugh Grant did an amazing job. Then I saw another movie with him & realised that he was just being himself. Not that I think this will be the case with Catalina, but you never know. If it is incredible acting skills we'll see her nominated again.
But yeah, wow. I was blown away. :)

Exactly. Personally, I'm rooting for Kate Winslet, who I know damn well won't win but I really wish would. Clementine was an amazing character, and she managed to not only make it a great performance, but to turn out an equally intriguing turn in Finding Neverland. Plus, the woman's two years older than me and she's on her fourth Academy Award nomination. She's spent the last eight years being one of the most reliably brilliant actresses in Hollywood, and she doesn't have an Oscar yet why, exactly?

This all feeds back to my Johnny Depp support, because I'd love for him to win for the same reasons and there's no way in Hell he'll win in that category. He was wonderful in that role, but it wasn't the best role he's ever done, and I'd rank him after all of the other competitors in regards to his level of performance. (If Jamie Foxx wasn't a lock for Best Actor, though deservedly so, I'd be rooting for Don Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda. Sweet Jesus, did I love that movie.)

Oh wow. Our legislature sucks. And...here's the thing. If I wanted to wear a pair of boxers (with the front sewn up) out in public? I don't think ANY cop would bother me.

SO FUCKED UP.
