My expectations are rising bit by bit, considering I've read three early reviews and all of them have been almost completely positive with only one or two big problems. It helps that the cast is awesome. (And I didn't know until today that Warwick Davis is in the Marvin costume. Yay! Warwick Davis makes everything better. :))

Where were the other early reviews? I hadn't seen them.

(I want to link them.)

There's one from Moriarty and one from another guy, both on AICN. AICN's been pretty good about getting early reviews for it.

I'm totally looking forward to Alan Rickman being Marvin's voice... I have such a Voice!Crush on him... And Mos Def is actually a good actor (he was in The Italian Job)... I am a HUGE fan of the Office and Love Actually, both of which star Martin Freeman... so I know that the ensemble's great. It's just that Simon Jones IS Arthur and Mark Wing-Davies IS Xaphod...

I'm pretty much convinced that there's no way this movie cannot be good. I'm often wary of movies adapted from books that I adore (bit of trivia: I had large passages from Hitchhiker's memorized when I was 8, and I insisted on bringing the book with me when I went to overnight camp), but they fucking cast Alan Rickman as Marvin. That's enough to guarantee a spontaneous orgasm right there.

And Stephen Fry is the Guide, and Warwick Davis is in the Marvin suit, and Sam Rockwell is Zaphod, and Martin Freeman is Arthur ...

Hee. I love this cast separately, so together in one movie, I should be in true love. Oh, yes.

I rather like the idea of Mos Def as Ford, too. Think he'll try a British accent?

Where else might we have heard Stephen Fry's voice from? I am curious cause the name is familiar but I can't place it.

He played Oscar Wilde in the movie Wilde, I just realized he narrated the Harry Potter video games, and if I'm not mistaken, he also hosted the BAFTAs this year. This is what he looks like, and he's very well-spoken, highly intelligent, and amazingly witty.

And he was Jeeves in the early-90s BBC Jeeves and Wooster series.

I have been waiting for this movie for a long long time. It is second only to LOTR in anticipation.
