I started my Oscar Movie Marathon early specifically so I could subsist solely on junk food and watch Forrest Gump on ABC. Ah, the joys of eating empty calories and watching cheesy crap. *happy sigh*

See, the fun comes the year I can't do this because I'm actually going to the Oscars. :)

EDIT: And who I think is going to win this year ...

Best Supporting Actor: You know, I wasn't sure back during the Golden Globes, but the closer it's gotten to the ceremony, the more I'm positive it's going to be Morgan Freeman. And here's hoping, damn it, because he needs to win for something.

Best Supporting Actress: If Cate Blanchett doesn't win, I'll throw things at my TV screen. And maybe cry.

Best Actor: Well, DUH. (And for the record, if they were giving a second-place Oscar in this category, I'd be rooting for Don Cheadle. Out of all five Best Actor performances, his was my second-favorite by a very close margin.)

Best Actress: Goddamn it, I want Kate Winslet to win, but it's going to end up being Hilary Swank, she'll get up there and wibble and thank everybody on the planet, and then she'll make some lame joke about not thanking her husband last time. Say what you will about Jamie Foxx being overexposed, but at least his acceptance speech is almost guaranteed not to suck.

Best Animated Film: If The Incredibles doesn't win this category, I reserve the right to hit something. I own Shrek 2 and I like it just fine, but PLEASE.

Best Director: I sincerely think this is going to be one of those years when the best director does not direct the next film. I'm pretty sure that if Scorcese wins, The Aviator is going to love, but if Eastwood takes it, Million Dollar Baby isn't going to win. Having said that, I really want Scorcese to win. They both deserve it, so I can't complain either way, but I really want to see Scorcese accept an Oscar. It's a goddamn crime that he and I have the same number of Best Director Oscars.

Best Picture: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Wait, what do you mean I have to pick from the list of nominees? Okay, fine. I'll give them credit this year, because I do genuinely like all five of the nominees (even if I think Eternal Sunshine kicks their collective asses), but having said that, I think Million Dollar Baby is going to win. I think its biggest competition is The Aviator, and I'd really like Sideways to win if only because comedies never win, but Ray and Finding Neverland don't stand a chance.

Alas, I don't have Fierce Creatures. Besides, the whole point of the Oscar Movie Marathon is to watch movies that won or were nominated for Oscars. Luckily, I've got lots of those. :)
