OW. Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, OW.

I'd just like to state for the record that I think it's totally unfair that I have almost no tolerance for alcohol, but my tolerance for most pain medications is off the fucking charts. GYAH.

The usual question I'd make in this case is whether it's because you take pain meds frequently but hardly ever drink -- because that would pretty much explain why you've got such a high tolerance for one and not the other. (It's certainly my excuse for being such an alcoholic lightweight.)

In the meantime, you're stuck looking into non-pharmaceutical solutions -- like heating pads or maybe herbal teas.

I don't drink all that often, hence the low tolerance, but then again, I hardly ever take pain medication anymore because even when I'd try to take them in high school (and it wasn't even frequent back then), nothing would happen. I've just given up. Aleve is the closest I've ever gotten to actually having a drug work, and that was taking almost an entire day's dosage at once. Hence, why I've pretty much given up on pills anymore unless I'm desperate.

I should really invest in a heating pad. Not just for my menstrual cramps, but also in case I throw my back out again. Heating pads work like a charm on me. :)

We seem to have similar biochemistry -- I quit telling my mother when I had headaches by the time I was in high school (if not junior high) because she persisted in dosing me with liquid Tylenol that tasted horrendous and did exactly nothing for the pain. (And anyway I found out that just lying down in a darkened room worked far better than any pain meds.) Also, I think I'd built up a tolerance to Novocaine by my third visit to the same dentist within the course of a month or two, which led to an appalling scene where he didn't believe me when I told him my mouth wasn't numb yet (or at least didn't find that sufficient reason to hold off on drilling my teeth for a few more minutes).

Cramps I've never tried medicating -- the only thing that ever helped me with them was getting up and walking around, or rocking back and forth if I was stuck where I couldn't get up. Motion, anyway.
