Stop me if I'm verging on the political, but hasn't she been there for the last fifteen years?

True. I guess it depends on your perspective. To some people, the better place is Heaven. From my point of view, the better place is wherever they're leaving her the hell alone. It's a toss-up, really.

At the same though, the legal battle has just begun.

What legal battle? She's gone.

And what are the protestors doing? Rioting?

Heck, at least the kids in the school down the street can go back to their own school now.

(They had to close a nearby elementary school because the protestors were too insane or something)

But you KNOW her parents aren't just going to let this drop.

Her husband wants her to be cremated, her parents want her to have a traditional Catholic funeral.

They'll also probably try to sue for punitive damages.

What, you don't think there'll be a wrongful death civil lawsuit?

What legal battle?

It would not surprise me if there's a fight over what's left of her medical trust. There'll be a fight over what to do with her remains. I could see the family try a wrongful death case, especially if they're able to come up with anything that resembles abuse. I'm not saying that any of these things will be successful or that they should happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it.

I was talking to my mom about the other patients in the hospice and how the protestors must be affecting them. Can you imagine if you were making a decision about life-sustaining treatment for your family member while the protestors were outside? I didn't know about the school, though.

AP ran a story about how others in the hospice have been affected. One man's granddaughter got held up by police/security/protesters at the hospice and she was a minute too late. Especially wrenching because her grandfather had begged to not die alone.

I realize people have a right to air their opinions, but that doesn't mean I have to hold the fuckers in high regard.....

You're kidding right?

Wrongful death case against Michael Schiavo
Wrongful death case against the hospital
Wrongful death case against the doctors

I wouldn't be surprised if they'll try to file one against the judges who ruled against them.

The protestors are screwing up my lunch plans, that's what they're doing.
