Indonesia volcano spews ash. ... the hell? What is up with poor Indonesia this year? Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes ... damn.

In other news, I just heard a radio promo that hinted that Lynn and Alex get involved in a riot. Granted, it probably won't happen, but with their behavior sometimes, it's okay if I think they deserve a little trouble, right? (Not a lot, obviously -- it's not like I want anybody to get hurt -- but still.)

Given that all signs point to the leg being in India, I could imagine. And to think they were just *barely* starting to get on my good side last week.

My big problem with them (aside from the whining) is the fact that the difference between Rob and Amber and Lynn and Alex is that both teams are nice to one another, and they're both not exactly nice to all of the other teams, but Rob and Amber are much more polite to the locals.

True. I have to give Romber at least that much credit.

I'll forgive teams all sorts of trespasses if they give me the impression that they remember that they're the guests, they're the only ones who need to hurry, they're the ones who are ignorant of the local language, and they're the ones who'll benefit from the million dollars.

Exactly. That's why Rob's every-so-often asshole-like behavior is easier for me to forgive in this case. Meanwhile, Lynn and Alex (but especially Lynn) have had more than few snotty conversations with locals that have just made me want to smack them both.

While I have no opinions regarding the behavior of Lynn and Alex, I can only suggest that Indonesia has fallen victim to the infamous Hays Code, whereby dramatic justice must befall those who are errant in their ways. That this code only initially applied to cinematic characters in Hollywood films from about 1933 to 1955, does not mean that, Hollywood having abandoned it, it didn't find a new home. Indonesia has had a famously corrupt government, and accusations of child-trafficking are rife...
I refer you to "The Last Days Of Pompeii", and "The Rains Came", both outstanding 1930's examples of the disaster film genre...
PS. I'm not usually this snooty, but I've been at the Cabernet...

Earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes are all connected, really, that part of the world does have a lot of activity going on with the tectonic plates, it might continue to create disasters, too, which is terrifying.

True, but at this point, how much more crap can the earth throw at it?

... I say, probably right before that entire section of the planet turns into quicksand and everybody sinks into the ground. And let's not even get into the Lake Toba supervolcano there.

Considering how every time they start to rebuild something else goes wrong it's not safe to rule anything out; nature is one scary bitch. But considering the world is mostly magma and only a little crust at the surface it's been largely kind to us in that respect. Huge scale disasters aren't a frequent thing, which is why it's all the more shocking when something big goes boom. The amount of support and aid many countries rush to offer is a wonderful thing, really gives you an idea that not all people suck.

The people who call it an "Act of God" and give the impression the people who suffer these events somehow deserve it will always get on my nerves, though, I must say. They suck a lot.

Have they shown that scary documentary in the US yet, where it turns out that just about all of Yosemite National Park is a Supervolcano and is due to blow right about now? Apparently it will take out pretty much all the Continental United States.

We in the UK have only to worry about the weather.
All the damn time.

Yup, they showed the movie. And damn it, I missed it.

*sigh* I've been waiting for the caldera under Yellowstone to blow since I heard about it. Yay! Apocalypse! *happy dance*

As I hear you're a fan of the disaster genre, a feeling I share deeply, I can tell you that very recently they even did an amusingly crap two-part drama here on the very same subject.

It was called, with a breathtakingly lack of inventiveness, SUPERVOLCANO.
