Apr. 17th, 2005 08:59 pmGabrielle: That whole marriage is just a complete joke, and not in an amusing way. *shudder* I mean, I still don't like her, but now I loathe him. He expects to get back into her bed after last week? Yeah, right. I shouldn't be rooting for her to run off with John, for crying out loud. The poor guy doesn't deserve to be involved in any of this.
By the way, John is adorable. "Are we still making out?" HEE. And he gave her his credit card! It's sweet in a really stupid way, although she's an idiot for taking it. If it's a student card, it's a really low limit, anyway. (I can't believe that that was my argument. *snerk*)
Also, does she just walk around the mall wearing a cocktail dress? Even if it is pretty, it's just weird.
Bree: Bree just needs to get over the whole gay thing. I mean, I understand where she gets that attitude from, and at least she's not being totally evil about the whole thing. She's just being a complete comservative Republican about the whole thing, without the meanness. But I was right in Andrew finally having an ally in Rex.
And the reverend ... oh, Bree. I love seeing Rex and Andrew as uncomfortable sex allies. For once, Andrew's response to the whole thing was perfect. I wanted to cheer, even if he does spend most of the time being a spoiled brat. That whole dinner just ... "The Van De Kamp Show." I'd watch that every week, just those three characters interacting all the time. Danielle doesn't even need to be there. That was one of my favorite moments all season.
But really, the guilt with the umbilical cord story? Stop it, Bree. Although, what really bothers me about Bree is that she wasn't worried about Andrew not going to Heaven over hitting Mrs. Solis with his car, but the gay thing makes her think he's going to Hell. Don't make me pissed at Bree, writers. The only thing that's redeeming her behavior about the whole thing is that she's just so desperately nice about it. She's trying, but she's failing miserably about it.
The fact that he's bisexual and he's totally cool with it is awesome, though. How often do you see that anywhere on TV? (Although since Marc Cherry's gay, I can see where it's coming from.) The ice cream metaphor was great. Hee. And the little end twist to the whole thing? *flails* Okay, he's gone from a spoiled brat to delightfully evil.
Lynette: Okay, Lynette's daydream? Is annoying and bitchy and stupid. My parents had a psycho neighbor like that woman, and none of us were sitting around wishing for him to die. (Waiting for him to die, maybe. Wishing? No.) And just waiting for some Swedish family with two blonde little girls to show up and marry into her family just rings weirdly off to me. Also, where the hell was "I have a baby to take care of" in her excuses? Where's her baby again?
And I hate to say it, but she has a right to be bothered. Mrs. McKlusky (or however she spells it) was getting really, really obsessive about inviting herself over. However, the way she ended the episode with Mrs. McKlusky was perfect for both characters. Neither one of them like the other one, but they do feel a certain kinship, so ... heh. They're snarky to one another and I like Lynette when she's with her.
Zach, Paul, and Mike: I have a theory, so bear with me. Mike and Dierdre were married, or dating, or whatever. She got pregnant. She had the baby and gave it up or had it stolen or something. It ended up with the Youngs. They named it Dana. Then Dierdre showed up to take him back and Paul killed her and that's when the family went into hiding. Or something. It all ends with Mike being Zach's real father anyway.
Of course, because that's what I think, it won't happen. But I've been thinking it for a while and the fact that it was Dierdre in the chest just adds support to it.
Also, I know Mike's a murderer and a drug dealer in the past, but that beating in the parking garage? OW.
Susan: Susan's mother thinks she can pass for twenty-eight? She's got a fifteen-year-old, for Pete's sake. And she walks around the house at night in a T-shirt and undies. That's asking for trouble, seriously, even late at night.
Of course, just springing a double date on her was just wrong. Susan's mother gives me a sudden appreciation for Susan's everyday stupid behavior. She actually looks responsible next to her mother. Then again, she ends the entire conversation by saying that Mike was The One. The fact that she can think a man with a criminal record like Mike's is The One is why my sympathy for her behavior is not as strong as I imagine the writers would like. (Of course, they'll probably end the season by revealing he was framed or did all of that stuff for a good reason or something else to redeem him. *sigh*)
And I'd just like to say that Arrested Development should have won best comedy over Desperate Housewives, but that doesn't mean Desperate Housewives isn't one of the best shows on TV. (No matter what Herc on AICN thinks, because he's a dimwit.)

cleolinda, you know how when you watch the original Superman with Christopher Reeve, and he looked kinda hot, and ... well, look. That is some GREAT casting, y'all. *stares, entranced*

I hate that Bree and fam seem to have completely forgotten the whole hit-and-run. Andrew's already pretty evil, what else can he do?
Dang, bandwith exceeded. I wanna see Superman!
