You know what's both great and horrible all at once? Coming in for overtime on a Saturday morning and having your boss tell you that you did such a good job the day before, you really didn't need to come in to work. *headdesk*

Also, icon courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] robyn_ma. HEE. :)

EDIT: Did I mention how much I'm loving Lucifer's Hammer? Wheeeeee, apocalypse! *happy dance*

The comet hit, everybody's nuking everybody else, aaaaaaaand I finally figured out what was so funny about Jakov's name. My inner twelve-year-old boy must be asleep at the wheel.

Dean Koontz's 'The Taking' is shaping up to be good apocolypse fiction. I've only managed to read the first few chapters. Already mother nature is flooding the entire fucking planet, people are panicking left and right, ships are missing and someone sliced a person's head in two on live TV.

That's an interesting book. Try The Mote in God's Eye, if science fiction doesn't make you queasy. Niven wrote some pretty good stories, and few that are not quite so good. (He's still around, but not producing so much these days. Maybe has enough sense, unlike some, to know that he's somewhat run out of steam.)
