Good news: Bambi's mother just died on ABC, which ... okay, not good news, but AWWWW. *sniffle*

Bad news: Bambi II?! Oh, fuck you, Disney. If any of your animators had an original idea these days, it would waste away of loneliness and a search party of original ideas would find its bleached bones on the beach of some deserted island.

EDIT: I just read a whole bunch of spoilers for the second season of The 4400. *tries not to flail, but fails miserably*

They need to leave my childhood alone...or hire me...I have lots of ideas...of course, several would probably get me arrested.

If the animators came up with the ideas, we wouldn't run into these problems. Animators LOVE originality.

Unfortunately, it's mostly suited executives in LA who come up with the 'ideas'. 9_9

A deserted island has too much life in it. I'd say the Gobi Desert.

Disney sucks. You know that new book Disney War - about the infighting amongst the board of directors, Eisner and the other "suits", etc.? WEll, as scathing as that book is - that's the cleaned up version that got through legal. We did the index for the book and it was a rush job so they sent us the first draft (pre the legal department getting a hold of it) to get started...

Oh. My. God. The horror of the things that Eisner says and does are outstripped only by the horror of what he and his right hand henchmen wanted to do to squeeze more money out of those animated classics. It would make you cringe. And the way the suits treated the animators would make you cry. in fact it DID make Roy Disney cry.

The worst of it was stopped - thankfully - when the board battles heated up.

Dear lord. I didn't think it got any worse than Lady and the Tramp 2, or the song number they gave Rafiki in Lion King 2. THEY FLUSHED THEM DOWN A TOILET MADE OF TREES IN THE MOVIE, PEOPLE. o.O

You wanted Bambi's mother dead? You're hardcore, man. You rock hard. Like White Snake.

Well, not really. It's more like it's one of those classic scenes that make me sad, but in a good way.

...

Er, don't tell my mother that bit about wanting Bambi's mother dead for any reason, especially entertainment value. I'll be disowned.

You know the true injustice of the universe? I always have the best blackmail material on the people that can't pay me squat.

I have got to start friending richer crowd.

Damn.

Actually there really was a sequel to Bambi, called Bambi's Children. Of course, it was a sequel to the original book, which was so much more traumatising than the Disney movie. Obviously. Because it's Disney. Who managed to make Hunchback of Notre Dame comparatively fluffy (although God, that is a twisted movie anyway).

I haven't seen Hunchback in eons. All I really remember about it is "OMG FROLLO'S VOICE IS SO DEEP" and "JIM DIAL IS A GARGOYLE WITH NO LEGS!" and "KEVIN KLINE KEVIN KLINE KEVIN KLINE!"

I think that means I'm due a repeat viewing, huh?

(oh yeah, demi moore, too)

All I remember about the casting of Hunchback was that Frollo was also the crazyhouse dude in Beauty and the Beast and was the narrator in Treasure Planet. But dude, I adore that movie. The music, with the exception of the gargoyles' song, is awesome. And Clopin! ♥ ♥ Clopin!

You so should watch it again.

CLOPIN! Oh, God, how did I forget Clopin?!

I think I have a copy of it somewhere. And Beauty and the Beast (LENNY BRISCOE IS A CANDLE OMG!). And Treasure Planet (Captain Amelia is the BEST. EVER.).

I smell a Disneyathon coming on. Maybe I'll watch Atlantis, too. Mmm, Ivanova. ...ImeanHelga.

LENNY BRISCOE IS A CANDLE OMG!

LOL! I saw Beauty and the Beast before I ever saw L&O. <3 L&O now, but yeah boy, it was always hard to shake the memory of that French candle.
