Okay, so. Here's how it's looking.

I'm moving back to PA. From what I see, there are three things I need to go back to PA:

1. A car.
2. A job.
3. An apartment.

The apartment comes in a distant third. I can live with my parents or any number of relatives, but I obviously need a job and to even get a decent job anywhere in NEPA, I'll need a car.

The Car

So, I only have about two hundred and fifty bucks in my checking account. (Yay for monster bills that suck away all of my money!) After next week's paycheck, I should have enough to go to a police auction and get a car. Granted, it won't be the nicest car on the planet, but beggars can't be choosers. Of course, the problem comes when I have to go get insurance, registration, etc. Ah, the things I didn't miss most about car ownership.

What would be the smart thing to do would be to give my parents the money and let my dad see about getting me a car at an auction back in PA so I don't have to worry about getting everything before I get up there, but I may have to talk him into it.

I wish I was getting into this with slightly more money to work with, but I should be able to pull it off, God willing.

The Job

My first thought right now is that I may try and get the only open job position at the Scranton DHL, which is unfortunately as a supervisor. For the record, I would suck as a supervisor. And they probably won't hire me anyway. So it's a pretty safe bet I'm going to have to go with the fun of a full-time job and a part-time job. (And if I really do want an apartment of my own, then I may even have to go back to donating plasma again. And oh, what fun that will be.) Besides, it'll be easy enough to just go to a temp place and have them set me up.

The Apartment

The apartment is not as much of a problem. My parents know enough people who can get me into a good apartment by myself so that I shouldn't have to worry. Besides, my mom's already said they'd help out, and my family's always good for some old used furniture. Honestly, if I say I'm moving up there, at least some of them will suddenly decide to replace a couch or a dining room table or something and have to get rid of a bunch of stuff. As for outfitting it with other stuff, my birthday's coming up in September, so I could always ask for gift certificates for Pier One and Walmart and Target. That part, I'm not so worried about.

So, yeah. The move back home has now slowly but surely commenced. So maybe I can stop fretting over the damn thing, calm down, and get back to finishing the monster ficathon entry of doooooooooom already. (I was so spazzy before I left the apartment, I forgot to send myself the right story file to work on today. As if I needed to slam my head against the nearest desk some more. *eye roll*) I'm better now, though. Not so antsy. I just need to find out a good timetable for getting back and I'm golden. :)

Also, in the middle of my mom's phone conversation with me, she mentioned that she's getting a new kitten. And the breeder sent her a photo. *dies of cute* Not sure which one she's getting, but AWWWW.

Oh, and I've got another round of What Did Bryan Do This Time? for you guys to play. You'll be amused. ;)

Is it a good thing that you're going back to PA?

Yeah. It's a little sudden, but I wanted to anyway and this is just the kick in the pants to get me started. :) (Once the stunned look on my face wore off, I actually got a little bit happy about the whole thing. Of course, it's the whole going-back-with-hardly-any-cash that's bugging me now, but I'll deal somehow.)

Up in PA, I did it twice a week for twenty bucks a pop for a while. It wasn't all that bad, although obviously it was somewhat uncomfortable to sit there for about an hour with a needle in your arm. But for gas money for the week, I'd do it again, no problem. :)

It hurts less than an ear piercing. Unless, of course, it's a bad stick, in which case it is Not Fun At All, and the phlebotomists enjoy it just about as much as you do, except with less actual pain on their end.

I got one of those once. I could barely move my arm for the rest of the day and I was pretty much a waste until I had eight hours of sleep. OW.

I had that happen to me once -- the guy managed to do it in both my arms on the same day. They sent me home after that.

So when are you moving? Want to come to a blues festival in August? =P

I'm not sure when yet, but if I get up there by August, I'm game. ;) (Actually, if it's the first week of August, I'm going to be in PA, even if I'm not moved up there yet, and if it's before that Friday, I won't even be busy.)

I'm confused. Why do you have to move?

My roommates are all moving, and since I can't live here alone and I want to move back home anyway, I'm just going to do that instead.

Aw, I like knowing that you're not very far away. But if the move will make you happy, then I'm happy.

Hey, good luck with moving back to PA! As for the car insurance, ask if you can list your car and yourself as a driver your parent's policy. If you can then it will be much cheaper and you can pay the parental units the difference instead of buying a whole new policy on your own.

Trust me. I insure for a living. (For the next two weeks and two days ;)

This'll make seven. Owen, Spencer, Jasper, Otis, Cooper, Simon, and the new baby. When I called home before to squee, I could hear Spencer in the background, presumably bitching about getting replaced as the baby again. ;)

Wow, your parents just can't stop collecting cats! But considering how cute they are, I can see why.

Good luck with the move! Sounds like you have lots of support and the move home is basically what you really wanted all along.

Is public transport an option, at least temporarily?

When I was in Cyberjaya we didn't exactly have the best public transport system in the world and yet I could get around. (I don't have a drivers' license so therefore I can't drive) I'd imagine the public transport situation would be much better where you live...

Just a thought...maybe set up a paypal account (or PO Box or something) to take donations? I'm sure even if they can only spare a few bucks, there would be people on your flist willing to try to help you get funds to help with the move. After all, if people will pay $10 for a 2-hour movie, they should be willing to donate for the huge amount of entertainment you provide them. :P
