Let's see ... today I stuffed myself full of funnel cakes and chicken speedies, walked around the park about ten feet away from wild geese, went to the light parade, and hung out in the beer tent for two hours with all of my relatives and friends scoping out a hot guy who looked like the bastard love child of Edward Norton and Matthew Perry, a hot guy who resembled a grown Harry Potter without glasses, and a hot guy who may or may not have been my high school crush with a shaved head. So, all in all ... good day. :)

My plans for tomorrow night's fireworks party -- drinking, and lots of it. After the day week month year decade life I've had, I think I deserve at least one day of alcoholic debauchery. Oh, yes. *nods solemnly*

The main drag of my hometown right now is mostly food stands, none of which serves a single healthy food. Walking through the place and sniffing the air makes you gain ten pounds. It's lovely. :)

Oh, that was one awesome funnel cake. And I got to have fresh-squeezed raspberry lemonade with it. Mmmmm. :)

Yup, tomorrow I get wasted, and Saturday I get to pass out candy in a parade. It'll be a full week. ;)

Funnel cakes are of course one of the perfect foods, made up entirely as they are of 3 of the 4 basic food groups: fat, sugar, and burnt crunchy bits (the fourth group is salt).

But what are "chicken speedies"? Do you have to, like, run after them? *fears the fast food*

Little chunks of chicken marinated and then fried and eaten in a hoagie bun. The stand downtown makes delicious speedies. Mmmmm. *is still really, really hungry*

Eeee! Chicken Speedies!

I know that you're only about 45min away from their point of origin (my hometown), but I'm still all silly-excited everytime I hear about them spreading to somewhere else. As in everytime speedie sauce goes on sale where I currently live (two hours away).

I am such a dork for speedies.

Have you every been up for the Speedie Fest? More varieties of speedies than you can shake a stick at. Very yum.

I can understand her not knowing how to spell spiedie, but from you, it's just shameful. :P

Do I get points for knowing that I was spelling it wrong, but not quite caring enough to look in up (as it was 6:30 in the morning)?

And I ended up looking it up anyway, to check the date of the Spiedie Fest... which I hadn't realized was this weekend.

Yes. Some of your shame has been absolved.

And I ended up looking it up anyway, to check the date of the Spiedie Fest... which I hadn't realized was this weekend.

I thought that it might be. I heard someone at work mention gorging himself on spiedies.

And now I've got a craving. Damn. Good thing I find the crowds tiresome, or I'd have to drive down there.

I've actually seen speedie spelled both ways, so ... *shrugs* :)

I don't doubt it for a minute. But it's still wrong. :)

(I wouldn't mind so much if "speedie" didn't make me picture sandwiches made from mexican mice...)

At the flea market, we get a choice of crappy pizza slices for too much money, fried dough, scary looking hot dogs or gyros.

Gyros are awesome. They wrap up a bunch of meat in bread, put an entire salad bar in there, then spray on some sauce of unknown origin. For 4.75. Worth going to the flea market for that alone.
