Also, I've been thinking about last night's episode of The 4400. And I've been wondering where the hell Lemonpox came from. (What? Chickenpox was taken and Maia got it first so I'm naming it after her stuffed dog, all right? So there. ;P) Considering the preview for next week makes it pretty obvious that only the 4400 are getting Lemonpox, I've only been able to come up with four options of where it might have come from --

1. A 4400 did it.
2. A non-4400 who hates them did it.
3. The government did it.
4. The Powers That Will Be did it.

The idea that one of the 4400 did it seems unlikely to me. It's definitely not Jean's handiwork, because her disease struck and killed almost immediately. But the thing is -- and God knows I'm no doctor -- maybe if it were diluted or altered or something, maybe it might be Lemonpox. (Again, I doubt it. Like I said, though, like I know a damn thing about this stuff.)

What gets me are a few clues from last night's episode:

-- The one lady in the doctor's office saying that all of the 4400 get "manditory fre health care", indicating they all go to the same doctor -- as in, Doctor Max.
-- The fact that Maia and Shawn are the first characters we see get the disease.

Does that mean that Maia and Shawn were the first to get it? No, just the first we've seen. And if the Powers That Will Be didn't set them up to get it from the future (which just makes them even bigger schmucks than they already are), then that means either one of two options that I can think of -- either it's transmittable through blood and other bodily fluids, in which case Doctor Max could easily be slipping it to them at their check-ups, or it's transmittable through the air and non-4400s are immune, in which case if we assume that Maia and Shawn were the first to get Lemonpox, then they must have come into contact with the same person, and the closest link they share is through Tom.

I don't know ... I just had to ramble about that, because if there's one thing this show does, it's make me think up wild theories like crazy. And for once, I have absolutely no access to spoilers anymore (mostly because I can't find them -- not like at the beginning of the season, when I could at least find a few bits here and there), and I really don't want to look anymore, anyway. I love my cuddly time-traveling superpowered show ... oh, yes, I do. ;)

For someone with little disease communication background, you've done an excellent analysis of this exotic disease's point of origin. Depending on when other 4400's come down with the mysterious pox, we'll be able to determine whether it was a single event that infected everyone or multiple exposures.

You know I was actually thinking that the disease was a side effect of what the PTWB did to them. But that mostly comes from the pattern of the lemonpox when it starts. It looks like it is radiating out from a circle, or an injection point. But that's just my theory. I kind of like the being spread by an enemy of the 4400 though. THat would certanly go with Maia's prediction that "Mommy's bosses will be punnished for betraying us"

Of course I'm almost never right about these things, which is why I get so pleasantly suprised.

YAAAAY! I checked that website at the beginning of the season and they had spoilers, but then they didn't for any episode, and now they have them for the next two episodes and OMGWTFBBQ I AM SO GOING TO HAVE NAUGHTY MARATHON SEX WITH THE WRITERS! *bounces around the room like a Tigger on crack*
