No matter whose fault the slow relief effort was, the fact of the matter is that these are Americans, and this is their president, and the fact that they were homeless, starving, dying of thirst, and deprived of medication never once seemed to actually bother him.

AMEN. This is one of my biggest problems with Bush's response. Say what you will about which level of government you blame -- state, local, or federal -- but at least I've seen the local and state politicians looking upset or saddened or angry. I haven't seen Bush (or hardly any of the federal politicians, for that matter) expressing anything remotely like those emotions.

Well of course not, his coach only taught him 'determined' and 'confused'. Empathy and sorrow are much further along in the alphabet.

that's because the part of his brain that processes emotion was removed in the lobotomy.

Ditto to that quote. Of course, any man that reads a children's book for 7 minutes after finding out that planes have crashed into two 110-story buildings doesn't really have his priorites straight now does he?

Amen to that! They all seem like they are in a heartless daze... making a few reheased comments with absolutly no feeling at all. I'm starting to think they are all just very bad actors now... maybe even just CGI's ??

Bush simply cannot manage not to smile, or at the very least smirk or grin. Even when he's clearly *actively* trying to look saddened and compassionate with the horrible things that have happened, there's always that little twitch in the corner of his mouth, if not more. Trent Lott's lost his whole house, yo!

I think that's why I hate the fucker with such a goddamn passion. He's a freaking sociopath.

That's exactly why I want to fling myself into walls. He's not well meaning in the slightest. He has a staggering lack of empathy and it show all the time in his utterly blank stare. I would like my total ineptitude to at least approach some approximation of humanity, at the very least but it seems that silver lining is not even an option. It's scary to contemplate someone like him...

I was assuming that some time in the last few years Disney had laid off or otherwise lost some of their more experienced animatronics guys...and Pixar haven't managed to get round the personal appearance problem yet.
