Am now watching the Emmys.

On behalf of the American people ... oh, Earth, Wind and Fire, I am so, so sorry.

I love this song, damn it. Make them stop. *whimpers*

EDIT: Um, does Hugh Jackman have mutton chops, or am I delusional?

OTHER EDIT: "Don't say you didn't expect it. You were nominated -- you had a one-in-five chance." THANK you. It's nice to hear that from the actual host.

UGH. Brad Garrett beat Jeffrey Tambor? Bah. See, things like this are why I usually don't watch the Emmys. At least at the Oscars, it's not the same morons every year.

Okay, the Eva Longoria bit was funny.

Oh, please let Terry or Naveen win ... or, okay, maybe Shatner ... YAY, SHATNER! I love Lost, but Shatner just ... Denny Crane is one of the best characters on TV, full stop. *loves him to pieces* And Naveen Andrews and Barbara Hershey just look so darn cute together.

I wish I could complain about whatever this stupid TV theme song "Emmy Idol" crap is, but on the other hand ... OMG TV THEME SONGS!!!

Is it wrong that I actually thought that was kind of funny?

Oh, please let Hugh win ... GOLD LAME PANTS is all I'm saying ... oh, but Jon Stewart's nominated, now I'm all conflicted ... YAY FOR HUGH! *flails* AWWW, he thanked his adorable wife first. :)

Kristen Bell's performing?! That's it, "Emmy Idol" wins.

Okay, you know you've been watching Arrested Development too much when you expect to see Tobias Funke in the Blue Man Group?

Yay for TAR! And Phil in black-on-black is so freaking hot.

Oh, JD and House ... now, there's a crossover that needs writing. "I didn't know we were doing British accents." *dies laughing*

Yay, Jason Lee!

Yay, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris! And they're introducing Kristen Bell! And she'll be singing! *bounces around the room*

... okay, Kristen Bell is officially the coolest person at that show.

Oh, no wonder Will & Grace gets so many fucking nominations. *gags* WOOHOO! Kathryn Joosten won for DH. That's good ... her character on there was awesome.

The writing noms are always the best. And Da Ali Gi show writers having pictures of guys orgasming was the BEST THING EVER. And that picture of Bill Maher? BWAH. And, WOOHOO! The Daily Show! I'm actually happier they won this instead of Jon winning the host award because it really is a team effort.

Ugh, Doris Roberts. Have I said how glad I am that Everybody Loves Raymond is over? Because ... uh, no, some of us actually want to drop Raymond into a vat of boiling acid.

Okay, that "What made you a star?" line was really funny. :)

Pretty notable Letterman's doing this rather than Leno, isn't it?

YAY! The Daily Show won again! *happy dance*

Not a bad performance of "The Jeffersons" theme, if I do say so.

Uh, sparkler and unicycle? Ooo-kay.

Yay for Lost and House for the writing awards! :)

Well, of course Geoffrey Rush won.

Okay, the bathroom stuff is stupid.

Oh, damn it. I wanted The 4400 to win, but then again, I haven't seen The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, so ... *shrugs*

Shatner's performing the Star Trek theme? Um ... hmm.

HEE! Okay, S. Epatha Merkerson is so freaking awesome, and the bit about her speech slipping down her dress was the funniest thing all night long. :)

As if I didn't already want to fuck Jon Stewart ... *swoons* Aaaaaand Desperate Housewives won. YAY! I know it's overhyped, but it's still pretty good. And ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT WON YAYAYAYAYAYAY! "We've been awarded twice for something you won't watch." Burn! People, watch AD this week before I hurt you!

WOO! Hellooooooooo, Phil!

Okay, that was actually really, really cool. :)

Oh, please let The 4400 win ... FUCK. *headdesk* Well, I didn't really get to see it, so ... *shrugs*

Looking back on the three anchors like this is really sad.

YAY! Keep singing, Colin! *giggles* And the best lead actress in a comedy is ... oh, please, Marcia Cross ... Felicity Huffman! I'll take it! I don't like Lynette, but who cares? She's awesome. AWWWW! Cutest speech of the night!

DUDE! Patricia Arquette for Medium! *happy flail*

Please Jason Bateman ... Aw, nuts. But I'll take Tony Shalhoub. I watch Monk all the time and adore it, so YAAAAAY!

Aw, man, not Hugh. (Well, here goes more bad flailing on my friends list. *sigh*) But yay for James Spader!

Trump and Megan Mullaly won that stupid thing? *sigh*

And best drama is ... Lost! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Now, THAT'S the biggest shock of the night. *happy flail*

Aaaaaaaaaaand then they had to go and FUCK IT UP with Raymond. Fuck you, Emmys. I'm going to dig out my Arrested Development DVDs and make myself feel better. *grumble*

Um, does Hugh Jackman have mutton chops, or am I delusional?

I'd assume so, for X3.

Not quite the same in the real world, eh?

They look bigger than Wolvie's, though. Hmm.

That opening was So. Horrible.

But at lease we got an "Everybody Wang chun tonight!" :D

And I like both bands, which mostly just made me want to drag them away before the Emmy producers let it go any further.

Probably just another thing about X3 that's going to be different and painful.

Oh, JD and House ... now, there's a crossover that needs writing.

Or a character that needs to show up at FH...

BTW... did you notice we got a Wilson? He's waiting for approval and an official position apparently... but in the meantime he's bunking with House.

Oh, good. House without a Wilson is just sad. :)

A friend pointed me to a Scrubs/House crossover (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fic_on_demand/507848.html?style=mine) the other night, and it's quite funny.

I know! It was too painful. Hopefully Kristen does better than Donald Trump and MM...shouldn't be too hard. That was the worst thing I have seen on my television in a long long time. Did they not rehearse at all?? They both acted sort of...drunk. Maybe that was a plan?

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Well, Kristen has musical performance experience and I don't think either of them do. (And if Megan Mullaly was supposed to be playing Karen Walker, she was supposed to be acting tipsy. But Trump ... GYAH.)

She did great!! She ended stronger than she started I think and I wish her set had been longer but I kind of loved it :)

and the JD/House bit was the funniest thing I have seen so far tonight :)

Actually MM has done Broadway, if I'm not mistaken.

She's actually got a good voice when she's not using her Karen Walker voice.

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
That's the problem. They made her perform as Karen, which might fit the song but was still a mistake.

I have heard her singing before and half enjoyed it, but tonight, not so much. Karens voice just kind of goes through me like no other...

I'm just getting some of this now because, ya know, Mountain Time. But I gotta say, the pictures for the Comedy Writing noms were the funniest thing I've ever seen at an awards show. So much love for all of those!

And Jon Stewart's wife is hot. Somehow, this makes me want to write Stewart/Colbert RPF even more.

Also, it's amazing how much easier this is to watch just on closed captioning.

I love Jon Stewart.
One of my favorite things I heard him say was when one of his guests (I don't remember who) said "I see you don't wear a wedding ring" and Jon replied, without missing an f'ing beat, "Not on my hand."

Me, too! I've said before that I would have his babies. Hell, his and Colbert's genetically engineered babies.

I think I saw that, actually. It was great.

From: [identity profile] hellziggy.livejournal.com
Yeah, I would totally have Jon Stewarts babies! I've told my husband this and he has accepted it.

Megan Mullaly sings her little heart out on that M&Ms commercial ("Orange! Wait, nothing rhymes with orange!"), and Wikipedia notes that she was in a number of musicals (theater, not movie), so I figure she was purposely being awful and Karen Walker-y for the humor. Also not to show up Trump's ghastly voice too much.

::personally wishes to set Raymond on FIRE:: I just don't get the appeal! Neither do anyone I know, so who in hells bells WATCHES it? Argh.

Well, it's gone, and LOST won, so yay.

Oh DANG-next year, there is a possibility for 4400 to be nominated vs. LOST. Eeee. What do we do?

Date: 2005-09-19 01:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Oh, God, if The 4400 manages to get nominated for Best Drama next year, I will be thrilled. It doesn't even have to win -- I just want my show to get some recognition. :)
